Here at Re-nest we love our gardens, and most of us would pass on grass any day to make room for flowers and foliage. Especially in grass-free gardens, pathways are a necessary and attractive element for accessing plants, and pea gravel in particular is great for this purpose. But instead of plain old pea gravel why not try adding marbles to the mix?
Marbles make for a charming little detail scattered along garden pathways. Their size and shape working nicely with smaller stones. Choose a colorful mélange to compliment the tones found in your garden. A variation of finishes—iridescent, highly reflective, oil-slicked—will add a subtle sparkle underfoot. Tumbled stones too can add an elegant and unexpected touch to a garden path; a little fish-tank-fab!

I've used marbles around plants indoors in the past. If you regularly water plants in your landscaping with municipal water, you may notice a film of mineral deposits form on the marbles.
ales.ag even when marbles break they dont shatter so you would just end up with 2 halves of a marble with a brittle but not sharp end. worth it :)
"fish tank fab", i love it.
