Garden of Good Scents

Our baby already seems to enjoy smelling flowers already, and kids will enjoy the outdoors in a unique way when you introduce them to the scents of flowers and herbs. Enlist their help to plant a garden with plants and herbs such as Sweet Alyssum, Scented Geraniums, Basil, English Violets, Lavender, Thyme, Sage, and Oregano.

These plants all release their scent when they're touched, so kids will especially love that this activity actually asks them to touch something instead of "Not Touch." In fact, the tutorial even suggests that when you're done planting, you make a sign post that says, "Please touch the plants." Outdoor spaces are all about liberation and a different kind of freedom than the indoors, so this sounds like a perfect activity for the yard.

We found it over at How Stuff Works.
