Springtime is just around the corner. Do you have questions about fertilizing, irrigating, maintaining an organic, pesticide-free garden, or many other gardening related topics? For more than 30 years, my alma mater University of California, Davis has offered the UC Cooperative Extension's Common Ground Garden Program here in Los Angeles.
The program's main goals are to offer residents information of how to create and maintain their own local food sources as a healthy and economic alternative, and how to share this knowledge with lower income residents as a social outreach program. But what if you're the one who needs information or help? Feel free to call their Gardening Helpline at (323)260-3228 to speak to a master gardener, or via email at mglosangeleshelpine (at) ucdavis (dot) edu for advice and guidance about your vegetable, fruits, annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees and soil.
