- What I Love About My Small Home:
- There are a lot of things that I love about our wee little home: It always feels cozy, doesn't take long to clean or cost much to heat, and it fits my hubby and I just perfectly.
When we bought our bungalow we knew that we didn't need all of the space and that it would be nice to get some rent to help pay our mortgage (we chose to live in our favourite trendy neighbourhood where the house prices are pretty high!). So, we renovated the basement to turn it into a one-bedroom apartment which we rent out. This helps us out financially and suits us really well. We love our little home!
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- I am a thrift-shop hunting, interior design loving, DIY gal, so I am constantly wanting to try new things and switch up the decor. I even write about my adventures of transforming our home on a shoestring budget on my blog, the sweetest digs (www.thesweetestdigs.com).
Since we are pretty limited on the number and size of rooms, I can't always grab that bargain dresser or use all of my favourite paint colours. To try to solve this problem, I created a rule for myself which was to sell/donate anything we aren't using instead of hanging onto it "in case". So, if I buy a new chair, I need to get rid of the old one (or whatever was taking it's place). That way I can change things up and try new ideas, but not get overwhelmed with "stuff".

Now don't everybody freak out. We have seen her kitchen before but everything is going to be okay. :P
Nice to see the rest of your place! Love what you did to those cabinets!!
I love the painted ceiling.
ceiling!
This is easily one of my faves. So chic, so much personality, so much excellent style.
Oh I adore those kitchen floors.. and the painted ceiling!
... the living room picture appears to be photoshopped? the coffee table/rug area lighting and angle don't match the rest of the room.
The striped kitchen floors are AWESOME.
@Designaddictba I don't see anything to indicate photo manipulation, I just see the use of a wide-angle lens (and its natural distortion) plus some flash fill light.
love the kitchen and bedroom, not so crazy about the living room, but that is just my taste! I'd love to see more pics
The painted ceiling made by day! Love!
The kitchen floor is fab! Love the wood "Headboard"!
I don't care that I've seen your floor before, I love it and I can't get enough of it!
Thanks for all the sweet comments, folks!! I'm feeling so flattered to be part of this rad group of small abodes.

@DesignAddictBA: There isn't anything photo-shopped in the living room photo. Taking some photos of that room during the day (so without the flash) is on my to-do list, though!

I love that floor!
@LadyTiffKnee: The comforter is DKNY and came from Bed, Bath and Beyond. Not sure if they are selling it anymore... but I have seen similar tucked versions elsewhere!
thanks! :)
