Our post and beam house was very dark when we found it so my first thought was to create a space that was light, airy and inspired by nature. I chose to paint the previously brown walls and trim white to balance the darker tones of the beams and ceiling and soften the mood. The subtle shades of blues and greens were pulled from the artwork to create the dreamy palette I wanted to come home to each day.
Colors used in my room:
Wall color and trim - Benjamin Moore Dove White. Fabrics in soft neutral greens, blues and grays. Stronger accent pops of color in artwork and accessories balanced by neutral, organic pieces.
Tips for using color successfully:
White doesn't have to be sterile. Choosing the right shade can be key. I love how it balances all of the natural warmth of the space while allowing the colors and textures to shine.
