Steampunk mods are turning up all over the place. A lot of modified PCs, cell phones and other items are turning up, mostly made by DIY enthusiasts. After having seen Jake von Slatt's steampunk keyboard mod, this German DIY-enthusiast made his own, incorporating a bit of Gothic flair into his own personal mod. This is a new interpretation of a steampunk keyboard. It was made by Steamtux from Germany and the Gothic touch to the keyboard is really neat. It's filled with arches and strange angles.
Jake von Slatt's steampunk keyboard mod is probable the one that you're most familiar with. It's fitting that this keyboard is also unique, even though it's made in the same style. The German Steampunk Keyboard is a pretty awesome sight. Steamtux reveals that he used an IBM Model M keyboard, AEG and Triumph typewriter keys as well as a frame of brass, black felt and wood.
The flowing end pieces and the arches definitely make this keyboard stand out. It's pretty incredible to see. We wonder how well you can type on these kinds of keyboards. Our guess is that it's pretty similar to using a typewriter. [via Make, photos by Steamtux]
