Getting Your Home Cozy For Fall

As September winds to a close I am more than ready to start gearing up for fall weather. In the same way that we start to bring out our knit wear in preparation for cold weather dressing, its time to pull out the things that make our home feel cozy and warm. Why not give your couch a boost with some great pillows or cozy throws to make it more welcoming and comfortable? These are some of my favorite responsibly made pillows and blankets that will give your couch a stylish make over for the cool winter ahead.Shown above the jump, from left to right

1 Love Pillow, $69.00 from Alexandra Ferguson: Alexandrea Ferguson designs home goods for the "eco aware" who want stylish accessories they can feel good about. Her pillows are all handmade from 100% post-consumer recycled water bottles.

2 Cashmere Patchwork Throw, $170.00 from Nube Green: These luxuriously soft patchwork throws are handmade in Seattle, Washington and are created by stitching together scrap pieces of material. While this would make for a fantastic DIY project, supporting earth conscious designers is also a wonderful way to support responsible small businesses.

3 Hand Knit Pillow Fisherman Cable Pillow, $85.00 from Habitation Inc.: What could be better than a hand knit sweater? A hand knit sweater for your couch.

4 Eco Indian Throw, $135.00 from Nube Green: The colors in this blanket capture fall perfectly, from the grey overcast days to the gold hued changing leaves. The blanket is made from 100% re-spun fibers from re-processed off-cuts.

5 Going Hunting Hand Silk Screened Pillow, $34.00 from Bark: The two sisters behind Bark Decor handmake all of their designs at their studio in Braintree, Massachusetts using all eco friendly materials and techniques. This gorgeous cotton cornstalk fabric silk screened in a delicate pattern is available in red or blue and would certainly add something special to a couch or bed.
