It may seem frivolous to some, but, indulgent bedding has always been one of my weak spots. There's absolutely nothing like crawling into an luxuriously dressed bed after a long day of work and snuggling up to the sheets with thread counts very similar to the price tag.
The prices on indulgent bedding most certainly aren't for everyone and discount home stores such as Ross, Marshalls and TJ Maxx are truly godsends in these circumstances. Whether they are duvet covers, quilts or 400+ thread count sheets — we just can't help ourselves. Here are some favorites we've fallen in love with recently:
• Anthropologie Rosette Quilt, $248-$268 Quilt
• Style & Co. Artisan Bedding, $500+ Complete Twin Set
• Jonathan Adler Yellow Flame, $195.00 Twin Duvet Cover
• Pine Cone Hill Juliet & Zella $398.00 Quilt
• Pottery Barn Ruched Voile Duvet Cover & Sham, $249.00 Duvet & Sham
Are you a sucker for indulgent bedding?

White Enamel Four-P...
Amen. I am always on the look out for fabulous bedding. I'm a bit of a fabric snob. I have great sheets, a silk blanket and down comforter. I have duvet cover and shams for winter, fun sheets and light quilt for summer. I figure you spend a significant amount of time in bed, it should be a heavenly experience. Life is too short and too difficult for sheets that feel like cardboard.
My dream bedding:

Too bad I would ruin them in about a day.
Does anyone know the name of the fitted sheet in the first image? I love it, a lot.
@ annabelvita the blanket is from Anthropologie I looked and they have similar if not the same sheets
annabelvita, the entire first image is from anthropologie.
and that style&co. is on clearance at macys.
And yes I'm a Tj Maxx fan for bedding. I cannot afford to pay for these things people think I'm nuts that I spent so much on just my kid's bedding, sorry but they need soft things too!
I'd love to take a nap in that last bed!
We have 1000-thread count sheets and I don't really like them. They're so heavy and almost *too* soft... I kinda the crispy coolness of "cheaper" bedsheets. Weird eh?
But I'll always splurge on a great duvet/duvet cover, shams, pillows and throw blankets.
I'm a firm believer in spending some extra money on bedding. It just always lasts me longer. (Plus, if you're prone to leaving the bed unmade like me, then it's really just a chance to show off my gorgeous sheets. Right?)
And TJ Maxx and Tuesday Morning are great recourses for higher-end bedding on the cheap. Love em.
Lol, EC, I couldn't agree more. I've given away very expensive sheets because my husband thinks they're just too soft he also prefers a crisper cool feel sort of sheet - only one he likes is Rachel Ashwell 100% cotton sheets. They're pretty pricey but the only ones he likes.
Thanks guys, the link was redirecting me to the european site where that sheet set doesn't exist (yet)
while I love beautiful bedding, I do NOT love high thread counts. I think anything higher than 250 feels swarmy and wet. I do love love love 200 all cotton crisp sheets. and it seems they are harder and harder to find.
200 thread count feels like sleeping on sandpaper to me. after thanksgiving, i found a set of 500 thread counts in queensize for $40 at target. they are woooonderful
D. Porthault is my favorite but I don't own a single set. Most of my bedding suits me fine and is all the luxury I need. I sometimes think we fret over things that in the end, do not make that much of an impact on our overall quality of life. In fact, for me, buying $1K sheets would impact my life negatively!
I complete and totally fell in love with this Natori "Imperial Palace" bedding set, which is even more beautiful in person than it is online:

Saw it -- and felt the silky fabric of the duvet, and the softness of the sheets -- in Macy's, and have been dreaming of the duvet and the embroidered blanket/coverlet ever since. They don't exist on Ebay, which is a damn shame, because there's no way I can afford a $600 duvet or a $600 blanket. At this point, even a $200 set of both would be an indulgence (tough economy). But I'm hoping eventually they'll show up on Ebay.
In the meantime, can anyone suggest other deep purple/eggplant/plum bedding (duvet, comforter and blankets, as well as sheets) that feel soft, look pretty, and would fit a bedroom theme of Asian palace meets old Mae West movie?
This post is a week too late for me as I just bought new bedding. I got a duvet cover very similar to the one posted from Anthropologie for 1/3 of the price at West Elm.
PS: Does anyone have any thoughts on the way the Anthropologie rosette comforter feels? They have one in a purple color, and I like the look of it online, but I wonder if those gathers would feel bothersome, as compared with a smooth silk, satin or combed cotton comforter.
Hey, while we're on the subject of great sources for bedding, hook me up with some ideas for places to look for luxurious bedding that's not too feminine. I'd love some of the Anthro pieces but my boyfriend will veto anything too floral. I really hate our current bedding.
I love beautiful bedding, especially comforters and duvets, and actually own several, but with a large dog that likes to sleep on the bed during the cold weather and 3 cats who like to sleep on the bed every dang day, I usually end up throwing a colorful sheet on top of the duvet so I don't have to wash it every week. Sooo - not investing in any new comforters at the moment, but Anthro and the Company Store catalog are terribly hard to resist....
Bed Bath & Beyond has DKNY ruched pleat duvet covers that are only about $150. They look much more expensive, and have amazing pillows to match.
I too love linens. I have 72 pieces in my linen pattern, but since my animals love the bed, I end up throwing a huge fleece throw over the bed to protect the linens.
I also wash them in Woolite in cold water. If I wash my clothes in Woolite, why not the sheets?
T-shirt sheet sets! Talk about cheap and comfortable! Target has great ones. I recently purchased a set ($40 on sale) from West Elm in charcoal and can't wait for them to arrive! I'd splurge on a duvet, but NOT on the sheets.
I'm officially having a love affair with that Anthropologie rosette quilt. Seriously. LOVE. Too bad the price tag is a little more than I can spend. Would it be possible to make it? Hmmm....
I swear by Rest Hardware hotel sheets. Like 200 count but thread count is so overrated! These sheets are closest to hotel sheets i have ever found. Not cheap but not Frette prices either. I agree with some of the other posters: getting a billion-count sheet from marshalls doesn't do it for me. I like a soft but crisp sheet regardless of thread count!
jpozner, I have the rosette quilt and it feels like a pile of jersey. You don't notice the gathers unless you sit on top of the quilt.
i was just given the rosette quilt in navy for christmas and i echo lemonade on this-- it's really cosy! and my husband finds the navy color balances out the quilt so it's not too 'girly' for him.
the bedding in pic #1 is sooo pretty ! <3
I know I'm a little late on commenting... but where is this rug from?? thanks for helping :)
