As a holiday, the importance of Valentine's day tends to wax and wane throughout your life. I've been married almost ten years so it's definitely on the wane for me, but, like many things in my kids' lives, I enjoy it again by proxy during the annual school Valentine exchange. I'm not opposed to a quick stop at the drug store for some cheap boxed cards, but if you'd like to make something more personal, here are some terrific ideas, all with either tutorials or links to free printables you can use.
I've included a variety - some classic Valentine motifs and some with popular characters; some with candy, some with trinkets and some strictly with a sweet sentiment. Most importantly, your kid should be excited to give their Valentine to schoolmates and friends (even if that means, in my case, buying Pokemon cards to give out. *eye roll*.)
