Get in the Holiday Spirit: 10 Festive Films on Netflix to Stream After the Big Meal

Nothing gets me in the holiday spirit more than a slew of festive winter movies. What would the holidays be without Santa and his elves on adventures? They'd be sad, that's what. Luckily, Netflix has more offerings than ever this year for families and wannabe Santa Clauses.

Here are ten holiday movies you can stream on Netflix tonight, and throughout the season ahead:

1. Miracle on 34th Street

No family should go through the holidays without seeing this 1947 classic. It might be a little slow for the younger kids, but older kids will appreciate the sentimentality of this unforgettable tale.

2. Kung Fu Panda Holiday

I'll be the first to admit that the Kung Fu Panda series is actually really fun. Jack Black and Angelina Jolie do great voice work in all these movies and this holiday short is no exception.

3. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Forget Santa. At our house, it's not Christmas without Clark Griswald.

4. The Adventures of Paddington Bear

While Paddington Bear is not necessarily a holiday-based character, he does end up wrapped and gifted often over the holidays. Plus, with his big coat and love of warm tea, he'll fit right in to a cozy winter state-of-mind.

5. Charlie Brown's Christmas Tales

Seeing all the Peanuts holiday specials should be a December right of passage. I never grow tired of these classics.

6. Love Actually

A holiday movie for the adults. It ends up on a lot of lists, because it's never been done better. Just try being a scrooge after watching this.

7. Dreamworks Holiday Classics

If you've got kids that love Shrek or How to Train Your Dragon, this will be a nice reprieve from watching Shrek 2 for the 10th time. Dreamworks put some of their hallmark characters in winter settings and the results are fun for kids and their parents.

8. Radio City Christmas Spectacular: The Rockettes

I've never been lucky enough to go to Radio City Music Hall for the holidays, but this special gets you close enough to the action to feel like you're really there. It's a beautiful production that's worth watching twice.

9. Yes, Virginia

The animation style in this fun Santa story is a nice change from the traditional bright colors and goofy characters.

10. Saving Santa

This is the newest of the holiday movies on the list. Starring Martin Freeman and Ashley Tisdale, a crew of elves must save Santa. What could possibly go wrong?

There's a real shortage of Hanukkah and Kwanzaa movies on Netflix, so I'd love to hear in the comments of where people track those down for their families along with recommendations of other seasonal favorites...
