We are awash in baskets, buckets, totes and bins. You can't walk 3 steps without bumping into one. It started out as a great organizational strategy but has become an eye sore AND a waste of floor space. To free up some of that valuable real estate on the floor, I am thinking I will hang some of the baskets and bins on the wall.

This is a nifty idea. I've got a space in the kitchen just perfect for some hanging baskets
Why not just donate or sell unneeded/unused baskets? I think putting them on the walls looks odd.
I do like the ideas in this post however I like it for a garage, play room or 'mud-room' but not for any other room.
am i the only one who thinks it would be really hard to open that armoire with a basket in the way? otherise, great post!
I think Pic#3 is great for a wall above the toilet in a bathroom. Smart idea:)
@Girl&Lamp: because if you don't have the basket you don't have anything to put your stuff in?
I love this idea!
We did something similar a while ago, mounting tin cans on the wall to hold pens/pencils/markers. It has been working really well for us and looks kind of cute too: http://thesweetestdigs.com/2011/12/20/the-diy-files-smart-office-storage/
I like the look of the baskets on the wall but I would worry about weakening the handles on a heavier basket if it was hung like those in the first post.
Anybody have any experience with the plastic ikea shoe bins? They look handy, but are the durable?
Look for images of Shaker style. THey do that with everything--baskets, chairs, you name it. It's a clean, elegant system.

Just remember to put them where you won't knock them down. And where they don't block access to other things.
