Designed by Eero Aarnio in 1966, the ball chair looks as futuristic today as it did 40+ years ago. Sitting in one is like escaping into a room within a room, especially if you choose one of the models with integrated speakers. While you can keep your eye out for a vintage model, we've rounded up five sources for new ball chairs — both original and reproduction.
• Finnish Design Shop Available in four shell colors and with six upholstery options. $6,980
• Plush Pod Available in three shell colors and with six upholstery options. $7,980
• Infurn Available in two shell colors and with ten fabric options. $1,309
• Gibraltar Furniture Available in two shell colors and six fabric options. $799
• Regency Shop Available in one shell color and with five fabric options. $699 (plus an additional $99 for speakers)

Shaw's Original Fir...
Ah. My aunt and uncle had a pair of white with red interior back in the 70's. I loved those things!!!
I've always wanted one
How comfortable are they to sit in? Any idea about quality from these different providers? Why isn't inMod in here? They seem to have the most options for shell colors, fabric types & colors, and audio integration.

the lighting/seating store by fish's eddy in manhattan has one on display for anyone local who wants to try sitting in it!!! i, personally, hate the look, but LOOOVE how it sounds inside and how it feels. i could fall asleep in a minute!
The chair just screams 1972 and I mean that in a good way.
Is that an Aniela Sobieski painting?
I like it, but after sitting in one I'd be worried about stepping outside and getting chased by a weather balloon...
Anyone know who the artist is/ what the title is for the painting of the young girl in the first example? I have the same exact one and have always wondered...
