One of my favorite memories from childhood was curling up next to a window in my cozy sleeping bag and watching a rain storm. And this past week of gray skies has left me in search of ways to make my home cozier...
I spoke earlier in the week about my new (but brief) practice of keeping an unmade bed. While keeping it laid back in the bedroom has upped the cozy factor in my home--I also needed a comfy spot to work (while staying motivated). So I decided to move a few pieces of furniture to make room for a chair by the window and got to work. Watching the cars and people pass underneath gray skies was the best way I've spent an afternoon at home in a while. In addition, pulling up a comfy chair next to a window is a great alternative if your home is without a window seat.

Of course, a cat is a lovely addition too. ;)
The living room windows in my new home look out over a bubbling fountain, beyond that is a local pond complete with island and all sorts of bird life. I can't wait to set a couple of comfy chairs in front of those windows!
That photo contains three essentials: a comfy chair, a book, and a kitten to snuggle with. Ooh, and great light. So make that four. :-)
All that's missing is some decrepit old invalid. That what this photo makes me think of.
love the chair by the window idea! we have trees outside our picture window. i see furniture changes in my future....
the cat always gets the best spot
great picture!
This is my life. Yes, it's that sad.
I'm sitting in my comfy arm chair by the windows right now, listening to the rain come down, smelling the last of the mock orange blossoms. Feeling fortunate and grateful...
Everything about this picture is wonderful. From the chair to the lack of lighting to the old wooden window, and yes, even the cat.
