I lived in Seattle in Grad School. My favorite thing about the Northwest is the deep emerald green that surrounds you each winter (from the grass and abundant conifers). So lovely, it makes the gray winters bearable.
I live in Santa Cruz presently, and after a rain shower the trees let off this vapor that I had never seen when down in San Diego. The mist is strangely beautiful. The scent in the air is glorious as well. Can't beat the Northwest (of California!). I hope that there will be this type of beauty once I move to Berkeley.
Thanks AT!
the snow!
I love how green it is over there!
We are going to Seattle for New Year's to visit friends and I can't wait. I also love how green it is there.
what's not to like?
lots of weather, rocky coasts, lots of green, terrain, coffee.
I have always wanted to go, until then, i could live with the scents of the PNW.
everything...friends, mist, moss, food!
delicious pacific northwest cuisine
I'm living on the east coast now after years in the northwest, and miss everything about it! But most of all the mountains everywhere you look...
Fir tips are the most delightful smell... closely followed by juniper on moist mornings
i love these folks! i had the pleasure of being introduced to their white sage and wild mint tea this past weekend by friends in Oakland and I picked up some tea at the Berkeley farmer's market before heading back to LA. Sad I didn't buy up the whole display! Its all wonderful! And its raining in LA!
I remember visiting Pike market and meeting the FISH! guys.
I'd love to get a taste of that jam.
The people!
I love the trees in the NW... the scenery is just unlike any other part of the country.
White-water rafting through the forests of Washington. Awesome.
I use to live in a little place called Gig Harbor, WA. I loved looking at Mount Rainier every day (well when the clouds didn't hide it) I miss that view!
the mountains and the ocean all in one spot... on the east coast it seems you only get one or the other!
the smell of the rain and the trees
The beautiful forests to hike and fish in. :)
Um, I like EVERYTHING about the Pacific Northwest (Seattle/Washington in particular) except the cost of living. My family would've moved there already if not for the enormous expense compared to the Southeast where we live. The Olympic National Forest is a big draw, but also the active lifestyle, "green" consciousness, and a thousand other things.
Beautiful lush green trees.
Sipping coffee in a cafe with a good book and the sound of rain beating against the window pains and the light reflecting off the wet streets as cars go by. God, I miss Seattle.
Damn, I wrote "window pain"...this isn't a second entry, just a humiliating acknowledgment of my own literary inadequacy.
I love those big ol' trees....redwoods, sequoias. Beautiful.
i grew-up in the pac nw & miss it so much ~ this would be the most wonderful thing to have the scents to remind me of it. my fave thing about about the pac nw is the freshness & sweetness {in the air, in the people, in the towns}.
I love the forests, especially the Olympic rainforest.
huckleberries and tall trees
I love the long days in the summer - and the view of the mountains for hours while driving on I-5!
honestly what i like best about the PNW is my loved ones. if they weren't here, i'd be on the east coast.
What I love about the northwest is that a casual demeanor is the norm rather than the exception.
greenness.
Beautiful forests
Mountains and oceans and greenery.
The rain, I love the rain.
smell of rain.
Marionberries and green everywhere!
The Mountains and the Ocean all at the same time!
the rain.
my husband and i honeymooned in Seattle and it was so different than the midwest (ohio!!). we feel in love with the grey skies and mountains and ocean. Hopefully one day we can move up there.
I've never visited, but I've always thought I'd like to live somewhere gray and cloudy. Here near the Mexican border, we get a lot of sunshine! Thanks for the contest.
The trees and hills and ocean and cliffs all within a few miles of each other.
I've never been, but I imagine I'd live the green misty-ness
What doesn't this native Oregonian love about the northwest?! Mostly, though, I love the berries, the salmon, the rhubarb, the wine, and everything else...
Well, there sure is a lot to love. That's why we put up with the astonomical real estate prices! These products really capture what it's like to hike in the Northwest, probably my favorite thing to do here. The smells of the forest and coast are so magical, and if you can pick huckleberries and eat them on your hike through the redwoods you've hit nirvana!
Cascadia forever!
never been but I think I'd like the green after years in AZ
Thing I miss most about the Pacific Northwest - Mountains!!! In all their snowcapped glory!!
I've never been, but my boyfriend is from Seattle, so I guess he's the best part of the northwest for me.
There's a guy in Olympia who's just about the best thing in the world. But the mussels are pretty good, too.
I love this line of products! They smell fantastic!
The scenery.
Hunting for Big Foot!
Moved here in 1998 and never want to leave—love the green, the mountains, the trees, the water, even the rain!

When my family went on road trips to Oregon and Washington I loved the rain, mist, mountains, trees, greenery, the sea, the woods...it's very poetic and lovely.
This will help get me through the rainy, rainy winter here in Portland.
I love the Juniper Ridge products. They are sold at the Ferry Building Farmers Market in SF every Saturday. I'd love to receive some as a gift.
sounds yummy
Watching the surf in the rain - from inside, next to a roaring fireplace...
I've only been there once, and I have to say that the SMELL was the thing I remember the most. I love the smell of rain and I think I caught it from the Northwest. Thanks, :O)
Cassandra
Coffee, music art!
The ocean. It seems wilder than here in Southern California.
Magnificent Killer Whales and the ocean.
The mist/rain for sure. Some people say its dreary, but I love it.
i can't go northwest without eating salmon every single day. (and its not because i have to!)
flora
The forests, the mountains, the ocean.
I don't know... I guess I love the Northwest for it's sheer mystery!
seattle rocks
I've never been to the Northwest, but I'd love to go. I'd have to guess that my favorite things would be all the green, and the seafood.
I love how green and fresh everything in the Northwest is. It's quite the contrast from So. Cal.
what's not to love? McMinnamins Pubs, downtown portland, shades of green not seen elsewhere, and - maybe above all - Elliot Bay Bookstore in Seattle. A glorious bookstore, a haven for all things literary (as well as some distinctly not). PNW love.
I love the critters, for we have one of the most poisonous creatures in the world living here - the adorable rough-skinned newt.
The mist/fog/moss....Puget sound.....whales....ferns...the coffee!
I like the rain! It's true!
yum, I like the taste of forest
All the rain makes the Northwest so green and lush--fir trees, apples, pears-trees grow famously there.
While I've never been, I love the greenery (and of course my many friends who have trekked north and west).
I love the variety the the Pacific NW coast has!
memories of the ferry ride to Orca Island
never been but I have the impression of green and unspoiled outdoors...nice
that it's like the better version (aesthetically in landscape) than the northeast of new jersey I was raised in....the green is bolder, the ocean is grander, the trees are more plentiful and reach higher and wider :)....all lovely....oh and the snow is more likely to be white than a smudged charcoal of grease and grime ....so lovely
The smell of the rainforest - and this would bring it back. Mmmm.
I have friends in Seattle - its hard to beat the great restaurants and other city amenities just a short drive into some of the most beautiful country anywhere in the U.S.
it's gray with lots of coffee shops
Twin Peaks!
Never been, but i'm imagining pine trees, snow, and beautiful mountainous views!
What's not to like? The scenery, the air, the food, the relaxed pace. But actually, I think my favorite thing is that the outdoors is so much a part of people's lives there.

I would gobble up that jam!
The fog rolling in from the sea!
the forest meeting the ocean; the light, the sky and the air.
The lush scenery
I'm from Seattle so it's awfully difficult to narrow things down. Besides the rain, I love the san jaun islands, so close to seattle yet it feels so far away and fresh. The marine environment is fantastic, the food is incredible and the scenery is almost impossible to beat.
I actually love the fog in the morning! I also love how green it is all the time!
Ah, reminds me of the home I had in Portland--I miss Alberta St.!
Green, misty, magical.
The greenness!
All the driftwood on the beach.

Oh mi gawd-- the piney, so fresh, smelling air, -- spent summers with Grandma (Nonna) who lived in Weed, Calif, and those were some of the best summers a kid could ever have. Forts in the pine needles, scrabbling up and down the hills, swimming in Lake Shastina -- I would so much enjoy the olfactory induced memories these products would surely bring!
