We've got to think about what we look at from our desks. But if your workspace lacks a window with a garden view or a lush campus vista, you might just want to create a bare spot to save your eyes from strain.

Staring at a computer monitor for hours each day can really mess with your eyes (Here's a handy statistic: When you are staring at a screen for long periods of time you tend to blink, on average, 25 percent less than normal).

Take some inspiration from this shot we found on Flickr and give yourself a visual rest stop near your desk. It should be a natural place to leave your eyes when you're looking away to think.

Your eyes, and your newly de-visually-cluttered workspace, will thank you.
