In an effort to make it a bi-annual event, September 25th will be the next Give Your Stuff Away Day. Free stuff will be available curbside in neighborhoods all over America. The last GYSAD on May 15th was a success, and with word getting out the concept is gaining in popularity.

Give Your Stuff Away Day is a great way to get rid of some of your unwanted household items, save landfill space, and help others. A win-win situation. Simply bring your unwanted items to the curb. No trash, food, drugs, chemicals, or dangerous items — just safe, valuable items you would like to give to others. Visit their site to find out more or find them on Facebook | Give Your Stuff Away.
*A friendly reminder to clean up/ take back all of your unwanted items after the event is over. Nobody wants to see the left overs hanging around for more than a couple of days!

What an AWESOME idea!!! I would like to see this become more popular all over the country so that people actually take advantage of this great opporutinity!
This really makes me wish that I didn't live in Bed Bug City, NY.
In my area you can't put anything out before 5pm the night before garbage pick up. Tickets are given all the time...
wish i had a truck!
Living in an apartment, if we put something at the curb we'd get written up for it. All items must be place near or in the dumpsters.
In Boston, they'll ticket you for putting your trash cans out before 5pm on trash day, but they seem to make an exception for any free stuff you're putting out to give away.
What a great idea! I might watch the neighborhood for some small tables.
I have a big entertainment center that needs to go. I'm tempted to just see if Salvation Army wants it though. In my neighborhood, if you put something big and bulky out on the curb, the bulk trash people will take it on Tues.
I think I'll contact my landlord about this and see if we can get the whole building involved - lord knows we don't need another overflowing dumpster!
love this. hilariously, it seems like everyday is GYSAD in my neck of the woods. It isn't illegal to put stuff out on the curb and I've actually watched my stuff disappear in less than one hour when we moved and cleared stuff out. I will, however, be ready to go treasure hunting around town to see if anyone has participated!
My community has had great success with hosting Really Really Free Markets at our community garden several times during the warmer months. This could be a solution for people can't swing the curb idea/apartment dwellers like me who don't necessarily have a curb to call their own that would get visibility and thus be valuable to people who might want the free stuff.
