Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love that it's all about food and people and I find something very profound in the idea that all across the country, everyone's sitting down to more or less the same meal. But what really makes the holiday for me is that moment when everyone shares what he or she is thankful for. Often, it's a simple round robin, but reader Gina has come up with a twist on the tradition that also makes a wonderful centerpiece and, perhaps, with a large group, a fun guessing game!
Trace leaf shapes onto colored construction paper and cut out. Ask guests to write what they're thankful for onto the leaves and place them in a pretty bowl tied with a raffia ribbon. We'd take this one step further, fishing out the leaves to read them at the dinner table and guessing the author!
