Any good suggestions on how to clean wax from glass? I burn candles regularly and I can imagine these getting dirty fast.
Freezer first to get most of the wax off. Let them come to room temp and then run them through the dishwasher.
Has anyone been to the store yet? I meant to go this weekend, but couldn't get myself to go downtown. I love CB2, and look forward to not paying for shipping!
I just went! I was in a dream... dragging my poor boyfriend along as I ooh'd and aaah'd. But he was a good sport.
Only drawback.... I wish they had more of the organiztional stuff from the website in store. But, none the less im HAPPY! && I scored some awesome new stuff!
I suspect I'm missing a gene or something, because candles don't interest me at all. I just see them as dust-catchers and fire risks.
FREEZING GLASS !!!! A great way to get a freezer full of shards.
I use liquid candles in their own small glass cups in a pair of retro 'iceblock' style Czech candlesticks. Once the wax liquifies, it sends the light through the candlesticks, making them sparkle. By contrast, the flame on a regular candle is too high up. The candlesticks warm slightly just where the cup touches the glass.
The other bonus? Never having to do more than rinse the dust off the candlesticks. I soak the wax out of the cups in an old jam tin filled with warm to hot water, although most of the time the only residue is the little metal tag that held the wick.
I also use the cups with Ikea candle rings to turn anything into a candlestick.
Freezing glass is NOT going to cause the glass to explode.
Beer mugs in the freezer...... a common thing..... and no resultant glass shards all over the place
I already have more than candlesticks and holders than I will ever need; but I must admit those Blok crystals are making me rethink... Hope they go on sale at some point.
I saw this post, and I fell in love with these candle holders! I ended up ordering just about all of them! I think they will look great on our dining table that we are currently redoing!!!
