I am so happy someone built this house. While there are surely some design flaws with a residence made of glass, it would be so awesome to fall asleep looking up at the night sky. It was created to showcase a new range of items fashioned from 'extraclear' glass by the interior design/architectural group, Santambrogiomilano.
The new line by Santambrogiomilano is called Simplicity. It is a collaboration between founder Carlo Santambrogio and designer Ennio Arosio featuring a series of iconic furniture pieces, beds, sofas and bookcases, along with architectural elements such as staircases and kitchens. They are all fashioned from ‘extraclear’ glass.
The release of this line coincides with the launch of their new showroom in the UK. They are currently seeking a permanent location for this incredible concept home.

The people that live here should *not* throw stones.
Wow - You'd never lose anyone or anything in there, would you?
And you would need very little artificial lighting either - Would be a great space for a party!
Aside from not being a bathroom or kitchen, it would be interesting that the only lighting source in the house would be on the first floor since the wiring would not be able to be brought up without being exposed. You'd probably need to get a clapper to shut off the lights at night.
Concept is one thing, practicality another. I find this as confusing as when I was a design student (ha, in the last century!) and we were taught that 'readability' and 'comprehension' was the goal, and we all know how THAT worked out.
I used to do houses like this on the sims XD
This design looks very cool, but IMO is vastly outweighed by so many practical, yet very real problems, with an all-glass design. I guess if we're only talking fantasy applications here - it would be really awesome underwater in a tropical location.
Sorry. I don't do windows.
This is in Mario 64!
i'll use it like a greenhouse
ITA with homebody
OMG! Jehovah's Witness would totally know you were home when you didn't answer the doorbell!!!
So much for that feeling of shelter one gets from their home...
brrrrr....
it looks like the house from thirteen ghosts
looks like there's no plumbing? slight problem there... even if it's merely a concept home.
really pretty concept from an artistic perspective....
NO FREAKIN WAY
I'm sorry... I need somewhere to stash all of my crap.
free peep show...great for exhibitionists
My imagination at night on overload would get the best of me. Those woods, I'm sure, are full of zombies, chainsaw murderers and an inbred family with cannibalistic tendencies.
I watch too many horror movies.
The idea makes me feel paranoid. I love LOVE windows but I need a wall to hide behind when the assassins finally come for me or the secret underground government agents in their black helicopters.
But it IS beautiful.
Reminds me of the clear computer cases, you just need to get clear wires, etc...to get lighting throughout. No clear plumbing though please.
OH you know the glass with the LED stuff that when you press a button the LED is activated and the glass goes opaque? PRIVACY PROBLEM SOLVED.
Imagine the dead birds that will pile up around this thing. *thunk*
Not a house for kids. All I can imagine is endless fingerprints and the rest of my life spent windex-ing (which, I hate doing in a regular house)
floor rugs would also become ceiling rugs.
Looks like the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue.
Heating bill, anyone? Also, as an Aussie, I'm thinking about the glare and the magnifying power!
It looks like there are a bunch of white curtains throughout - I can't QUITE see, but in that one of the bedroom, it looks like there might be one around a shower type area?
Also - CONCEPT HOME, people. I'm pretty sure no one is meant to actually live there. Personally, I really LOVE the staircase. I can see that in a regular house - or one room made from this glass, or even one storey?
Oh boy! Reminds me of the glass floors at the New Acropolis Museum in Athens. Looking up to the 2nd floor some dress wearing ladies unknowingly gave a free show.
Well, my father wouldn't have had to keep asking what I was doing in the bathroom all the time.....
obviously not meant to be practical as there is no plumbing or electrical. Cool concept, i wonder if they could get windows that could frost with the touch of a button. that would be cool!
I'll have to agree with ModFruGal... Maybe its the ridiculously low temps we're currently experiencing in the mid-west, but it looks very cold in there to me...
