On the heels of last week's re-post of a homemade, non-toxic fruit fly trap, we found this vintage glass version for those of you who thought the mayo jar and paper funnel were a bit aesthetically lacking.
It works in much the same way, except the flies get in through the bottom, and have a harder time flying downward to escape.
$21, here.

Ercol Bar Stool
Cute, but do they have a darker color. Would hate to see those pest floating around in there.
will it work on mosquitoes, too? There seem to be a few in my apartment-- and I'd sick of being stung.
I need one of these. I wonder if I can find something similar on eBay.
@ sleek - Yeah, that's the only reason I haven't made one. Yuck. Maybe blue glass would work?
I'm pretty sure the attractant works on smell, not sight, so any coloured bottle should do the trick.
If you really don't care about the sight of little corpses, you can also try out these funnels from Lehmans:
Fatal Funnel Trap
Ten bucks for six of them...
cute, but what attracts them inside? can't see any liquids or such.
I think that golden color at the bottom of the glass is liquid--not just the glass color.
good eye, harlie! :)
