With their elongated shape and small surface area, flutes are specially designed to retain carbonation, allowing for maximum bubble animation and admiration. Champagne is the classic bubbly of choice, however, Prosecco (my fave — less expensive!) and non-alcoholic sparkling ciders work wonderfully too.
So, grab a glass, or two, or four, and fill ‘er up! Drink to your health, your wealth, your wisdom and your wit. (Or at the very least…to finally vacuuming behind the fridge.)

How about a toast to those adorable cookie trees in the first photo! So cute!
I have decided I MUST make that cookie tree for the work Chrsitmas party.
I have a set that my mom gave me a while ago, they are just your run-of-the-mill flutes but still, so glam.
I don't understand stemless champagne flutes. Unless one plans to take down the whole drink in a shot, they seem like they'd warm up the champagne too quickly.
I love all things bubbly; champagne, prosecco, cremant, etc. and collect flutes usually in sets of two.
My favorites are by Holmegaard: http://www.heathceramics.com/go/heath/homeware/store/index.cfm?catID=32
I do love the Riedel you've shown here, I think a pair may have to join the collection.
I think Riedel Overture has a nice sturdy stem not too thin, price is good especially if you need more than 6, good for parties. Also, Riedel Vinum is nice a bit top heavy otherwise perfect. Both are not more than 2.5' at the rim.
I agree, toast to the cookie tree!!
Wow, this is what holidays are made of!
I love my Orrefors Prelude flutes.
The stemless flutes don't make sense- they look like they would tip over (and that never happens at a party!) and your fingers on the glass would warm the bubbly.
Flutes nothing, I'm waiting for boats to come back in!
I recently made a resolution to drink more sparkling wine, and (not surprisingly) we've broken a couple of champagne flutes since we started using them more.
Lately, I've been buying up Riedel and Spiegelau champagne flutes a few at a time when they appear on the shelves of a local surplus & salvage shop. It's an inexpensive way to accumulate enough glasses for a crowd, and I don't shudder when one of them smashes --- I remember that I only paid a coupla dollars for it and that it's not part of a set, so it's not a big deal, just a few shards of easily replaceable glass.
