Yesterday I wrote about Not Your Average Christmas Trees and it really opened our minds to making this holiday as DIY as possible. We've already decided that my tree will be on the wall this year, so now I'm looking for some garland to hang up there with it.
Felt is the most obvious choice for DIY garland, it's easy to work with and extremely inexpensive. It also happens to come in every color imaginable, so creativity seems endless. However, we're also really drawn to the idea of parchment paper garland — an irresistibly easy and inexpensive way to get really romantic strings of garland to hang all over the house. Once again, we can't make up our mind so we'll be making several of these go for the gusto garland:

Yay, tutorials. I've been meaning to make a garland to go above my blah living room window for ages now.
I have a finger knit garland on my fireplace right now. It looks great.
