Go Shiny: Pioneer's Own Little (Big) Bluray Home Cinema System

It looks like shiny is getting more and more popular this coming year of consumer electronics. From the major overhauls of the Apple laptops, to higher end desks, anything that's finished with a gleaming glossy finish seems to be getting that nod of approval from consumers. This new omni-directional sound system from the plasma screen masters Pioneer continues that trend, with every angle and design focus screaming, "I'm contemporary, buy me!"

With their latest entry, Pioneer's LX01BD system boasts an integrated Bluray player and some nice looking speakers that aren't too big (we're sure the misses will thank you for that) and offers the same build quality Pioneer has been known for in their plasma televisions.

One gripe would probably be the fact that their Bluray drive is only profile 1.1 - which basically means any BD-Live features on your new Bluray disks will not be able to be read. However, movie watching will probably be more than fine and two HDMI connections will allow a few other shiny components to add to your already-almost-complete personal home theater.

The audio kit is comprised of an integrated 5.1 channel amplifier and features two combined front/center speakers and two rear speakers. And also included is a subwoofer-receiver with dual-drive subs.

If you may have noticed, their design is very similar to their KURO line of TVs (you can see it with brawny hairs of contrast over here) and if you wanted to, use your TV's remote control to control the set together with no problems.

Though presently announced in the UK, there's no word on availability or price for the unit in the states. However, I'd keep an eye out because it's one sexy system - definitely worth it if you're looking for a quality package of speakers and receiver. Here's their website in case you want to keep checking back every so often.
