I think it is about time to set my fears aside and go bold with blue. The following photos depict the vibrant color at its best. Here are few tips to consider if you’re ready for blue too.
1. Try the confident color in moderation. Add it to accessories like dinnerware or lighting fixtures.
2. Consider mixing shades of blue together. This technique softens the color and adds interest.
3. If you do decide to go all the way and paint your walls cobalt, make sure some element of the room is left neutral. I love adding light trim to dark paint colors. You could also contrast the blue walls with white furniture and artwork.

I loved cobalt glass when I was a kid. Cobalt's unusually mysterious, yet bright, clean, and pretty. I'd use cobalt more if it went better with my favorite accent colors. Cobalt seems not to share the spotlight well.
We just did this - Lots of big bold cobalt blue with white, clear glass, and hopefully when we can find the time, rustic weathered wood. So far it looks great - and is SO different than anything I've done before. I like how bold it is and almost everyone who's come into our house has left inspired to use more color in theirs!
I effing love cobalt, but it is a big statement. Colors that go great with cobalt are tiny splashes of orange or pink. I love that 2nd to last photo. Ahhhh.
This was the inspiration picture for our dining room:

The color we chose is Behr's Star Spangled Blue and it is BEAUTIFUL. The contrast with the bright white wainscotting and crown molding is energizing, not gloomy. The color is great for EVERY complexion. I couldn't believe how beautiful it made my thanksgiving turkey look! I will forever sing the praises of cobalt blue! Go bold and go blue, you will be so glad you did!
Cobalt's my accent color! I'm keeping my walls white, but I love splashing cobalt everywhere else. That Anthropologie settee is awesome, but of course it's $2,700...
I am so looking forward to being able to paint my walls this color (I rent) but finding a neutral's going to be fun, because the blue-and-white combo isn't what I'm going for and beige is against my religion.
I think the right yellow would go well with cobalt.
