Inspiration: Good Design on Mundane TV

Click, click, stop, click, stop, click, click, click ... Don't mind us, we're just channel surfing. Cold fall nights mean staying in more, and yes, watching more television than we really should. But even while flipping through, and sometimes grazing on, mindless TV shows and commercials, we've got home design on the brain and have been noting good decor on bad (or otherwise, unremarkable) TV.

Recognize any of the images above? If you're avid channel surfers like we are, you probably recognize the following: (from top left, moving clockwise) Cool Flokati rug in a Dyson commercial; hey Henry, love those striking drapes behind you at the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee meeting; two geeky-cool spaces in a Dell commercial; those Gardasil girls got good (albeit, Urban Outfitters-y) design sense; and finally, forget Paris and her potential BFFs -- check out that eye-catching flocked turquoise and gold wallpaper!

There was another commercial that had some notable decor that we really liked, but we can't remember what the product was for, since we were paying so much attention to the decor, rather than the product! The commercial had a cool display of plates on the wall as decor in the dining room. Striking a chord with anyone?
