Reader Emily writes in: My husband and I are expecting our first baby in June, and we're starting to think about getting the nursery together. A family member is lending us a gorgeous Nanna Ditzel cradle, and we're really excited to use it. The problem is that it doesn't have a mattress, and the cradle is an odd size, with a curved bottom. How do we find a mattress that fits? Can we make one out of foam and still be safe? Are there places that make custom mattresses? We'd like to avoid spending a bundle, since it'll probably only get used for a couple months. Please help us, Ohdeedoh!
Congrats on your pregnancy and for scoring a beautiful loaner cradle, Emily. There certainly are companies that make custom crib mattresses, but we don't have direct experience with them. Below are a few links to check out.
