Josh just picked up this vinyl couch and wants to refinish it. He asked for our help:

Suggestions for colors? I was thinking a deep, hot-rod red. The room it's in and the majority of my furniture have the following color scheme: gray, black-brown, white, stainless steel - some green.

We're also wondering if you have any suggestions for a greener alternative to vinyl refinishing spray. (Slipcovers, well, slip, on vinyl and leather so they're not the best option.)

The refinishing spray in question is similar to this product by Dupli-Color. (Essentially, it's spray paint that's designed to chemically bond to the surface of clean vinyl.) And, while all we can think of when someone says "paint" and "couch" in the same sentence is that fateful episode of Trading Spaces where Hilde decided to paint two ugly couches pink, rendering them both uglier and impossible to use, vinyl refinishing spray does actually work. If we don't come up with any greener alternatives, we'll grant Josh a spray paint pass in recognition of keeping this couch out of the landfill for a bit longer.
