Hey AT! I'm gearing up for spring and looking to add some serious plant life to fill the empty space behind my couch, in front of my curved living room windows. I'm looking for a plant stand (or something I can repurpose as one) that's no taller than my couch (about 29") so that all you can see are the plants, not the stand. That being said, I'd rather not pay an arm and a leg for a piece of furniture I intend to hide out of sight. Any thoughts? Thanks! Ann

Anyone have a tip on an economical plant stand that's not too tall?

craigslist might be a good source too find plant stands or a console table. i've also seen quite a few plant stands of varying sizes listed on ebay as well.
Where did you get that fabric for the roman shades?
mmead: I think the fabric is Marimekko's lumimarja. I hadn't seen that color before but it's great.

I did this exact thing using a billy bookcase from IKEA (bought on sale) laid on it's side. It was almost the exact height of my couch (30").
You could probably find a bookshelf at a thrift store or craigslist that would fit the bill.
I see them at thrift stores often and can be repainted.
Otherwise- Target has several-

Smith and Hawken-
not a tower tiered style, but I like this one-

Also, these would work great as a plant stand, not sure how much room you have-

Ikea Molger bench.
Yes, the fabric is Marimekko's Lumimarja in brown. And the plant stand (though too tall for Ann's needs) is from Ikea.
i love the curtains as well! does that company that sells the fabric make them into shades? or do you have to take them somewhere else to get it done? or is it something you do yourself?
I always see metal plant stands, short and tall, year round, at my local TJ Maxx and Ross stores.
I use Ikea Lerberg shelves for my plants. I do use them outside, but they are a great clean design. They aren't as frilly and pretty as the white one pictured, but they're a great price, sturdy, and I really love mine. They also come in three different sizes and red or dark grey (or you can spray them if you're interested). Hope that helps!

A couple industrial wire shelves should fill the bill. Target has them, as do most home improvement stores.
I still love your curtains.
wish I had the room for something like that.
they have a bunch of low-key plant stands here

29 inches is standard table height, no? So a console table would probably be perfect. I saw a "mission style" blond wood console table at the local Christmas Tree Shop for $49, new. I'll bet you can find one used for less.
I REALLY like your pink chair.
