Dear AT LA,
We're shopping for a mattress and have heard about a brand called Chatham and Wells. Any info?
- Sleepless in Hollywood
Hey Sleepless-
Here's what we know: We have had the best night's sleep ever while staying at a friend's place who had one of the expensive beauties. They have great names like "Quintessa" and "Gabor". They run anywhere from $2000.00- $4000.00, which is too much for our pockets, but in truth, a good bed is essential.
We got our perfectly fine Sealy at Sears (for $1000.00), but it started to get dips and bumps after a few months. Plus, while a "pillow top" seemed extra luxurious, we realized that we couldn’t flip the mattress which helps in keeping it in shape longer. Chatham & Wells is available at Robinsons-May so go check them out in person. (And Lay down on those beds before you buy, people!)

GET A CHATTAM AND WELLS!!! You will LOVE it, top it with a quality featherbed and it's HEAVEN!!
Best matress ever, quality is superb and well woth the $2600!! I sleep like a baby every night!
Sorry to piggyback on this thread but could someone recommend a good dust mop? Are the microfiber ones any good?
You spend a third of your life in bed. Do not skimp on it and indulge yourself on the best mattress your budget can afford.
I know this suggestion doesn't hit either coast, but I can't be the only person in flyover country reading this, so....
I just recently moved out on my own, and my celebratory "big girl" splurge was a new bed. Iowa has a local mattress factory that -- quite frankly -- has shocked the hell out of me with their high quality at a VERY reasonable price point. I got a pillowtop queen mattress and box springs for just over $500 -- and it is, bar none, the most comfortable sleep I have ever ever had.
My point is, check and see if your state has a factory of its own. Besides the above, your conscience is also clear because you're buying local.
I do like my Chattam and Wells, but I am bummed that you can't flip the pillow top. I didn't think about that and we have a plateau in the middle of the bed. Also, I think the bed seems firmer in the store than in my bedroom (I wonder if other people had the same experience...?) Thank goodness Sit n Sleep lets you make one exchange because the mattress I initially chose was WAY too soft. Just my 2 cents...
Response to Iowa Mary:
Sometimes people just don't have 2 grand for anythng and YOU'RE RIGHT about factories. Also, while living in Los Angeles a few years back I purchased a fabulous pillow top queen size that is, to date, the best mattress I've ever had. Great comfort and quality - On Sale - in the Valley - $390.00
Hi Sleepless,
Something to consider when purchasing your new mattress is how the materials are sourced and what they can do to you health, afterall we do spend over a third of our lives in bed and most common bed materials are quite toxic!
So if you would like to have luxury, style and a bed that is ecologically and health positive I would suggest looking into a natural latex foam bed like the ones offered by LifeKind and European Sleepworks. Natural latex foam is very comfortable, renewable, more durable than synthetic foam and naturally dust mite and mildew resistant. After trying and buying many different beds I discovered these and fell in love.
I love my C & W mattress. But I do have a problem getting sheets. I am looking for deep pocket flannel sheets (18" mattress)without any luck.
Sorry to piggy back this, but.
Thanks
I strongly do not recommend Chatham & Wells mattress. We paid over 3600 for one at Macy's and have lived with sleeping in two holes ever since. Customer service came out, measured the sag, and said it meets company specs.
It is a horrible mattress and way overpriced.
Be warned,
Chuck
I've gone thru water bed, futon, pillowtop, latex foam, sleep number and plain old local factory, flip-at-will mattresses and box spring. I'm convinced there is no perfect bed. The floor is looking good. Tried a Chattam & Wells Luxe 1 in a department store showroom today and may reconsider.
Like Chuck we to bought our mattress (Chataham & Wells) from Macy's for nearly $3000 thinking we were getting a quality mattress. We are also sleeping in holes! There should be something we can do about the deception being touted by Chatham & Wells that they are selling a top of the line quality mattress. This is the worst mattress we have ever bought! To top it off I had major neck surgery after we bought this mattress. posted by Jean Guyer
i have been reading a lot of posts about mattresses, but noone seems to address my problem of the bed throwing off heat, ( i hate it) most foams, urethanes, and present day fillings all seem to have this problem...any ideas
I have purchased two Chatham & Wells beds. My first one, 2003 is already breaking down. The model was Genevieve and it has become extremely soft all of a sudden. I paid $1200 for it. The second bed , Eurofirm is much better, but it is only 3 months old, so we will see. What I would like to know is can the customer contact C & W and ask to rebuild the bed to become more firm. If so, who and where do I contact to get this done.
Thank you.
We bought a cal king C & W retailed at $2700. We too are now sleeping in hills and valleys after less than 2 years. We called for an inspection after ONLY ONE MONTH. (the hills and valleys had already begun to form!) Finally got the inspecto out las week, and according to him the "impressions" do not meet the standards as laid out in the last letter we got from C & W. If you are having difficulty keep calling for an inspection - this was our fourth try! We'll see what happens, but I will neer purchase from C & W again. Keep calling.....
We purchase top of the line C & W mattress and are also sleeping in trenches. C&W representative has told us that to rectify the problem we must turn the mattress sideways (yes, your feet will hang off!) for a week, then to rotate it completely so I will be sleeping in my husband's trench. Our mattress also tilts so that our feet are higher than our heads and we get extra blood flow to our brains while we're are sleeping.
We're going to try what the rep said in order to replace the mattress.
If you want a great matress purchase any of the Sterns and Foster mattresses. They are perfection with a great warranty and live up to their rep. We are on our third one in 30 years to give you an idea of the lasting power and the guests who sleep on the one in our guest bedroom always want to know what it is. Try them - they are the best beds for love, or money!
guys, you need to go on diet to sleep on chattam and wells mattresses.
250 -300 pounds will not hold any mattress or buy extra firm
I weigh 110lbs and my husband 160lbs. and our top of the line C & W is sagging! We have religiously turned it according to C&W specs and we are also sleeping in trenches! I plan to contact them this week but after reading the other post I don't hold much hope for a replacement. I would never recommend this mattress to anyone! It feels wonderful in the showroom, but does not hold up after a couple of years!
We have a Chattam & Wells. Very unhappy with it. Great for the first week. Noticed that one side was lopsided when delivered. Thot it would level out. It did not. The support began to break down right away. Got a replacement mattress from Macy's. Same thing. The mattress is lumpy. I am moving around all night and awake. Maybe it is pretty but it does not do the job and is way overpriced at $4000.
I am sorry to join the ranks of the unhappy people who have bought a Chatham & Wells mattress. I live in Las Vegas and bought mattress from BEDTIME MATTRESS,in August 2005, paid $2,600 for a CAL KING PLUSH and in less than a year it begin to break down, by this I mean that it has hills and valleys. Is this normal? Please advise if you can offer some kind of relief.
We bought a Chatham & Wells mattress and after just 4 days it start to lump in the middle - the worst night sleep of our lives - we called the store and told them to pick it up - Fortunately for us the store has a 30 day return policy but I told them that I refused to pay the restocking fee since their top of the line C&W was not worth a dime.
All I can say is - thank goodness we did not get rid of our old mattress - it has been 4 nights of no sleep - can't even roll over as you get stuck. You have to have a good sense of humor to sleep on their bed!
My husband and I bought a top of the line Chattam and Wells mattress with memory foam top about 8 months ago. It is terrible. Within 6 weeks, a trench developed and turning the mattress, helped but only for a few weeks. It is too heavy to turn weekly. I will call the company to see what recourse we have but if not, perhaps a class action suit? This is way too much money for a product that does not meet fundamental consumer standards.
My boyfriend bought his queen sized Chatham and Wells pillow top mattress less than two years and we absolutely hate it. There's a huge trench in the middle of the mattress. We wake up super grouchy, with back pains and popping joints. We were looking into calling customer service and trying to get a replacement, but we don't want to have to go through the same problems all over again. After reading these reviews, we're definitely not going to for a replacement.
We did go look at the Simmons Beauty Rest beds and they seem very comfortable and in our price range of about $2000.
How I wish I read these comments before getting our Chatham and Wells. I hate it, plain and simple. We turn the mattress all the time. It started breaking down right away. Had them out to look at mattress and was told it met the requirements. So now we are out some $3,000 and are sleeping worse than ever. It is so uncomfortable, is lumpy, it has a hill in the middle of it and absolutely no support. This was one of the worst purchases I've made. When I tried to contact the company directly, they moved and left no forwarding address--no wonder.
You all are absolutely CORRECT about the C&W Mattress. After a month the Foam started to collapse. LUMPY FROM THE START. I've had my bed for a couple of years now and I'm EXTREMELY unhappy with the performance/price of this mattress. I Wish I had my old Futon back!!!! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this experience and WISH I did more online research before I bought!
I purchased a Sophia queen mattress about 6 years ago from Macy's. It is one of the most comfortable mattresses I have ever slept in. Of course comfort doesn't come cheap. I paid about $4500 for it. So far I only had to rotate it once a year and I have not seen any hills and valleys that others have experienced. I am sure there are other mattresses that provide the same, or better level of comfort, but I am very happy with my Sophia.
One thing I would suggest to potential buyers is to lay in the bed that you would like to purchase, then see how far you sink into the bed and the comfort level. Purchasing an expensive bed is a big investment so it should never be done online without a "test drive."
I agree with one of the earlier postings that you simply cannot afford NOT to invest in a good bed considering how important sleep is and how much time is actually spent there. So I finally decided to "invest" in what I thought was going to be a top of the line quality mattress. I bought a C&W mattress. For some reason, when I got home it felt different. Too soft. So I flipped the mattress over so that that extra puffy top part was now on the bottom and I slept on the bottom side (I needed it to be firmer for my back). But within a few short months it felt to me that it was caving in. I so wanted to convince myself that I was the owner of a great bed but the truth is that it really is not all that special. Definitely not worth the $3k. I'm currently trying to sell it for whatever I can get for it. No disrespect to C& W but I really don't think it's worth the prices they charge.
Other people have been nicer then I. I too bought a chatham & Wells mattress. After one month the bed has sagged and I wake with back pain every morning. Paid alot of money for a mattress that is not serving the purpose and will not keep it because it is so unconfortable. I'm out the money I paid. I Need to get a new mattress that will give me a good nights sleep. By the way, I contacted Chatham & Wells via e-mail and they ignored me........
we purchased a miralux king mattress with "memory foam aka visco foam" and our first night was 9/15, and it was painful, causing my legs and my hip bones to hurt. That has been my problem every night since, except the 2 in Seattle that I was in a hotel. My 10 year old flipable pillow top was allowing me 8 hours uninterrupted sleep. Now every night is a dreadful experience. Even when the bed is made up, you can see the "ditches" on the sides, and the crown in the middle. One thing is for sure "You are killing me Larry". Miralux send their expert out, to inspect finally this last week, (after being overlooked for 5 weeks) and their rep said we'd hear by yesterday..not..i called today at the store, and she didn't know she was on speaker with the salesman and i was there, and she said "we think our expert cheated" because apparently he found it defective, so now they are sending out the owner. We will have to pay 20% more to turn it in, and we most certainly will not be buying another Miralux!!! We have heard that Spring Air is a good one, from a few completely different resources, does anyone else know anything about them??? I told the saleman, if I am cranky, it's because of all the sleep i have lost!
By the way, my husband has suddenly started having sciatic issues, 10 days ago. He had so much pain, he's on pain meds, and after sleeping the last 5 nights in a different bed, the pain is subsiding. Do we think it's the bed? Time will tell when he returns to it.
I bought a Chatham and Wells mattress after a bad experience with a latex mattress. After 2 years of bad mattresses, my back hurts, my hips hurt and I'm now seeing a chiropractor to help me through it all.
I decided to do some research on the web re C&W and WOW, alot of unsatisfied customers.
I'm trying to get back to some level of comfort. My old S&F was great. A word to the wise, don't get suckered into buying a pillow top, or anything resembling a pillow top. It all sags and breaks down quickly.
Since I bought the mattress throught a national chain, they are interceding to get me a customer service rep from C&W. We'll see what happens, but I am shocked at how expensive and inferior these mattresses are.
WOW. I am now convinced that Chatham and Wells is a snake oil purveyor!! I too bought what I thought was a top of the line king size mattress. When it developed ruts I tried to contact the manufacturer. Surprize! no response, as I'm searching for their website... gone! I think a class action suit is very reasonable especially considering what this things cost! Any attorneys out there??
My wife and I bought a C & W at Gottschalks and we to are having problems. The current mattress is the second one that was exchanged after 30 days. A trench developed in the first one and also now in the second one. After reading the other posted complaints I too think a class action suit is needed. Please contact me via email if you agree and are willing to help do something about this. The consumer is being taken big time by either Gottschalks, Chattam & Wells, or the parent company Spring Air.
Last weekend my husband and I purchased a C & W Tremaine Firm Eurotop set and so far it's very comfortable. It seems like all the unhappy posts have been about the pillow top mattress. Our previous mattress only lasted about 8 years which I thought wasn't a very good record for a mattress. But it was a latex mattress with a pillowtop and we were sleeping in a gulley where the pillowtop had broken down. After reading all these posts, I'm very concerned about this very expensive set and wonder if we shouldn't exchange it for another set???? Fortunately, we bought it at Mancini's Sleepworld and we can try this mattress out for 45 days. Buying a mattress set is the ending up being a complicated, expensive matter. I'll be watching this opinion-board for all future opinions.
Hi, I bought a C & W about 6 years ago and after a year it developed huge craters where we slept. Neither of us are heavy (I am 5'7 and weigh 130). After having that mattress for several years, you couldn't roll out of those body depressions and onto the other side--not great for married life. We called the company many times, and they came and measured and said it was within normal limits--the holes were well over 3 inches deep. Finally, after many, many phone calls, the factory said if we would bring the king sized mattress to the factory in Los Angeles, they would fix it. It took 10 days to fix and really all they did was stuff hard material into the holes. It was REALLY uncomfortable after they fixed it. I moved to Florida a few days after they fixed it. My husband wanted to move the mattress even though I wouldn't have bothered. As soon as we moved, I started calling the factory in Tampa to fix the mattress. One year later, they replaced the mattress with a "new" one. The new one is really a used one. There are magic marker stains on it, and another "yellow" stain on the mattress that showed up a few weeks after they delivered it. I ended up paying $100 for them to deliver this mattress to me and of course, it is uncomfortable. Never again will I ever buy a Spring Air or C & W product again. C & W is owned by Spring Air.
I am about to buy a new mattress, but I hate to get burned again. After this fiasco, I have a bad back, neck and sleep very little. I need to do something quickly, but I am afraid of making another huge mistake that will cost me thousands. I am thinking of buying a cheap bed and just replace it every few years. Chalk me up as another satisfied customer of C and W.
thanks for all your comments. We were considering a C&H King from Macy's - but now I don't think we will. We bought a King Size Sealy pillow top (No Flip!) from a local furniture store 3 years ago -- trenches and ruts!!! I was so disappointed as we have a 10+ yr old Sealy Queen Pillow top (flipable) that is still PERFECT. It was sold as a 20+ year bed and will easily make that. When we upgraded the master suite to a king size, we thought we were getting the same quality product. Seems in the last 5 years all the manufacturers went to "no flip" which means they wear out MUCH Faster -- and you can't get rid of the trenches. I HATE THE NEW MATTRESSES. Good luck to all...
Has anyone tried a tempur pedic? I went to Mattress Firm last night, and I tried out that mattress. I am leary about getting another innerspring mattress. By the way, Mattress Firm no longer carries any Spring Air products because their return rate was so high due to defects in manufacturing. I have a Select Comfort in the guest room and I don't love that mattress either, but it is better than my C & W.
I have the same problem with c& w. called sleepys to complain and they said the same response, meets our standards. Are their standards for people to sleep in a trench and have back pain?
I too am having the same experience with my C & W king mattress set. Sleepy's has given us NO satisfaction. I can't even find out the manufacturer. IS ANYONE INTERESTED IN UNITING TOGETHER TO REACH THE COMPANY WITH A STRONGER VOICE AND GET SOME SATISFACTION FOR OUR COMPLAINTS?
I almost bought a C&W queen mattress/foundation from a Macy's clearance center today. After reading these posts I am very glad I did not. I wondered why there were $3,500 C&W beds that were returned and on sale for $900. I seemed too good to be true and I now know why.
Thank all of you for sharing your information.
My husband and I bought a C&W queen, Marqaux Pillow Top from Sleepys in NYC, then I changed my mind and exchanged it for a king. This is their top of the line, super expensive, mattress. I think the trench problem might only happen with the king and after almost two weeks, I can feel a little dip. I'm wondering if it's just a matter of adding some cross supports since the mattress is very heavy. We have been using a "heavy duty" king frame with one center support that runs from head to foot. BTW, I emailed my question about support to C&W yesterday and am still waiting for a response. Now that I have read these posts, I'm thinking I should just exchange my mattress set for a S&F, which would be cheaper anyway.
Susan,
I would run back to the mattress store and trade in your C&W for a S&F. I am sleeping in the guest room now on our select comfort mattress. I have decided I like that mattress better and that is a full sized mattress. I do miss the king sized, but it is sure more comfortable, and it is just the entry level select comfort. Maybe that will be my next mattress to replace the C&W piece of junk. I don't know if adding extra support will help. My parents had a queen sized C&W and the same thing happened--big craters. They got rid of it 4 years later and bought some other brand of mattress and they are happy. They also thought it was the worst mattress they ever bought.
I am soooo happy I just stumbled onto this site. Out of desperation I was prepared to buy a C&W $4000 set. I purchased a $3k Nature's Rest all latex mattress in Oct '03, it was wonderful beyond belief for 1.5 - 2 years, and I sang it's praises to everyone. I then started to detect subtle changes, and by November 2006 I reached crisis point. I've always had a princess/pea thing going, but I felt like I was crawling out of a canyon every a.m., my back was killing me, my body hurt all over from the tension of trying to find a level sleeping position. I could see the uneven top and a trench to one side, though I'm just 130lbs. and have always slept all over the mattress. Mattress tech came out in Jan. and I was approved for exchange. Unfortunately, the upscale furniture store where it was purchased has one location, and recently got rid of most of their mattresses to carry only "top of line", which is to say, mostly C&W. I was feeling gun shy about all latex, and fell in love with a C&W $4000 set because it felt so much like my super pillow top latex mattress except it had a coil base loaded with a bunch of different foam layers. Nice deep pillow top perfect for my deep sway back, neck from hell, and fibromyalgia, though I wasn't crazy about throwing in another $1K toward a mattress. Reading this and other sites it appears that all those wonderful deep pillow tops break down easily which poses another problem in my search. Gotta buy something soon and the credit is for this store. Both the store and I have been waiting for a couple of months for the latex mattresses they said they will carry, though somehow no one can manage to tell me the name brand. Seems the mattress company is in argument with the provider over the cost of the raw latex material. Makes me wonder how other latex mattresses continue to be produced. Meanwhile I approach my previously wonderful bed with trepidation, but it sounds like it far surpasses C&W before it started to fail.
Our nightmare CHATHAM & WELLS mattress and SLEEP CITY in Santa Rosa, California have been one of the horrible experiences of my life!!! The story began 2 years ago, 2 weeks after our wedding when my husband and I used our wedding gifts to afford ourselves a bed! Within 6 months we were calling the store. Yes, we did all the right things acording to the manual but a hill had formed down the center of the bed, which I blamed on the "box spring" foundation and or the frame that came with the bed as it all never seem to sit exactly right either. It was 1 1/2 years before I convinced them to send for an inspection. And, of course, like the other stories you read here, the letter came back that our bed was "normal". We spent a lot more than we initally wished to in order to get this so-called great bed! This bed was sold to us as the best thing we could buy for my fibromyalgia, which, (as you would expect by the time of reading all of these posts) is worse now than ever and my husband is now also seeing a chiropracter regularly. It has been a NIGHTMARE!!! We finally got the store to exchange the bed, but when we got there to pick out our new one we were informed they were only switching the mattress, not the foundation. We were convinced (our 2nd mistake) to buy furniture to accomodate the new mattress with no foundation, we did not want to use the old foundation as we thought it contributed to the problem in the 1st place. The furniture was a second nightmare & we had to get them to take it back. So at present, we are sleeping on the floor, with a new firmer C&W matrress & no foundation. It is slightly more comfortable so far, no hills & valleys, but it has been only a month. If I could I would return it too, for a full refund and go somewhere else to buy a different brand. Both the store and the company were unfriendly and unhelpful and if there is a CLASS ACTION SUIT count us in! By the way, the marraige is holding up much better than the bed!!! PEACE
Thanks for all the comments on C&W mattresses. You saved me I was about to exchange my NEWLY purchased S&F 'Greenway Court" Cushion Firm mattress purchased at Macy's for the C&W pillowtop. As our S&F cushion firm is rock hard and maybe also developing slight impressions on the top. We are 200 lbs. so need the support on the inside, hence the S&F firm choice. We are now considering a S&F model change to the "Statehouse" Ultra Plush European Pillowtop does anyone have opinion on this mattress. Need opinions ASAP. Thanks
I am so sorry I did not read these emails before I spent several thousand dollars on a Chatham and Wells mattress from Sleepys -first Sleepys was THE most horrible store to purchase a mattress - we brought two and our Kind mattress was first delivered ripped; the delivery men rode over a stone wall and ripped the second matress that was delivered -- and the times for the delivery were not honored. After the third mattress, we have been having trouble with the Chatham and Wells - my back has been killing me and there are holes and valleys -- is this is suppose to be one of the best mattresses -- I contacted both Sleepys and the company - neither followed through -- the company has NEVER returned my emails -- Sleepys has refused to address the problem. STAY AWAY from buying anything from SLEEPYS and don't buy a Chatham and Wells mattress.
OH, I am so glad that I found this site....I thought I was falling apart! My husband and I purchased a C&W mattress from Sleepy's about 2 years ago. Right away, I noticed that sags started to develop. Because I had already used my 30 day exchange to exchange our latex bed (boy are they hot - and I don't mean sexy here!) I was reluctant to turn in yet another expensive mattress. So I thought it was just me and getting older (I'm on the cusp of 50). After going to the chiropractor, orthopaedic surgeon, physical therapist and a host of other medical professionals, they have all told me the same thing....nothing is wrong with my back, have you looked at your mattress??? AND after sleeping like a baby at my sister's house on her Nature's Rest non-pillow top, it's definitely not me....it's the C&W!!!! Our mattress is a Cal King and I've turned it and now the sags are on both sides! Is there anything more frustrating than waking up feeling like you've just been run over by a truck?
We bought it at Sleepy's and I'm going to call them to see what they say, but after two years, I don't think I'll get anywhere....
Sleepless in NY 'burbs
Regrettably, we purchased a Chatham & Wells mattress about one year ago. The mattress in the showroom was wonderful and we had such high expectations. However, the mattress delivered did not feel at all like the one in the showroom and we were shocked when we started sinking. The holes have now become so deep it's difficult getting out in the morning. Also, I began seeing a chiropractor because my back has been so affected. WE WOULD LIKE TO BE PART OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT!!!! PLEASE PASS ALONG CONTACT INFORMATION FOR PURSUING A CLASS ACTION SUIT. Our contact info is navy_cmc@yahoo.com Thanks!
Hey all,
poor c & w...at any rate, latex latex latex, sealy makes it, stearn and foster and ikea make an all 100% latex mattress. no sagging, hypoalergenic, pressure relief, bounce with out an innerspring, best for a marriage bed for couples that don't want to feel the other's movement but still provides "moton in the ocean" if you know what i mean... I have a sealy and my guest room has a stearns but if you don't have a large budget go get the idea model just be sure its the one which is 100% latex.
Sleep well!

We too got duped by Chatham and Wells. The mattress lost it's structure relatively quickly after normal use. There are two deep gullys and a hump in the middle. The worst mattress ever. The industry should be ashamed of itself to tout this as a high end luxury product, when in actuality it is a poorly designed porduct that is not worth it's cost. If anyone knows of a class-action, I'd be happy to know about it. howboutit@comcast.net
Has anybody had problems with a Chatham & Wells mattress and odors? Ours seems to absorb odors and then they deepen and turn bad.
After researching mattresses for a month, I went to Sleepy's and on an impulse bought a Chattam & Wells for 2K. I was looking for a mattress without a lot of chemicals and liked the wool material in the C&W. After 3 months, I am miserable with the same problems everyone else has written about: my bed totally sags in the middle, where I sleep. There is something structurally wrong with these mattresses. After I returned to Sleepy's to talk about, I found that they had discontinued sale of the particular mattress i bought due to low sales. (The cheapest, non-pilow top C&W.) I couldn't return because I would lost over $500 in the process due to Sleepy's fine print requirements. Made me feel better but mostly worse to see so many others' complaints.
Wow, I have had the same Chattam and Wells mattress for more than ten years...I am a large woman and have had no problems!!! I do get back aches when I visit my children and sleep on the sofa beds!
I bought a Spring Air Four Seasons Chatham and Wells queen sz pillow top firm mattress in 2000, having paid 1400.00 on sale. Granted, I only slept on it 4 years before putting it in my sons room (who was 8 at the time) he slept on it for 4 years before I moved it once again into my room. I've been sleeping on it with my husband for the last two years. I'm 5'9 125lbs and my husband is 6'2 185. So I'll say it's been in use for maybe 6-7 years. After reading all these reviews maybe my experience is the exception rather than the rule but I love my bed it feels almost as comfortable today as it did when
I bought it years ago. No sagging whatsoever and I feel guilty about having to buy something new but I just need a bigger bed. I did rotate it every 4-6 months and even flipped it a couple times (although, that seems awkward with a pillow top.) I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not but I am in the market for a cal king and I'm second guessing my own experience with these beds...
