I just had this gorgeous tufted velvet sofa custom designed for my home studio but the sofa was supposed to have white feet, and white trim around the base, instead of just black feet. The company has of course agreed to change it, but I'm kind of getting used to it how it is (although it seems a little boring). Should I keep it as is, or switch to the white?

Hi Jill--
Personally we'd stick with the black otherwise the white base and feet will be very matchy matchy with that red chair you've got next to it. Plus the black with the grey just looks nice and dramatic. Also, would you be willing to share where you had the sofa made?
Readers, whaddya think?

My vote goes for the white. I don't think it's too matchy with the armchair because the armchair has a contrasting upholstery color.
That being said, the pictures are annoying- they're crooked and hung at different levels. Ugh!
That sofa is f-ing gorgeous. Do not monkey with perfection!
The black is really nice. Otherwise I would go with oak or something wooden as an accent. Beautiful!
I like the black, I wouldn't change it. Its gorgeous.
Depends on the rest of the room.
My vote is also black. Could you tell us where you got it? I want.
I would stick with black -- the feet aren't all that amazing. While they are certainly nice, I think drawing all that attention just to the feet would distract from the great tufted back. On the other hand, if you had some black and white pillow (and maybe a splash of red), then white feet would be harmonious and not an attention grabber.
I much prefer the black. The fabric is beautiful, and white seems to me to be distracting.
I'm curious: where did the sofa come from?
When I read the title of the post i thought white right away
I change my mind! I didn't see the 2nd image with the bone/whitewashed spiral feet. Definitely get the new feet!
white, or ideally really light grey. I personally really do not like the black
white would definitely draw your attention to the feet. i'd stick with the black! keep in mind if you are vaccuming that rug, or someone goes to sit down and accidentally kicks a leg, the white is going to get ruined real quick.
Definitely black...this is a gorgeous sofa by the way!
beautiful sofa! i would stick with the black. they sort of disappear and give the sofa a floating effect. i think white, or any other color, would distract from and compete with what is already perfect.
I vote for black. Your sofa is BEAUTIFUL!!! :)
Silver!
Gorgeous sofa. I think that the black is more "distinguished library" and the white is more "Elle Decor trendy." It depends on what look you're going for overall.
For me, I'd stick with black. I'm boring.
For you, go with white. I can tell you're more fearless than I am. You can do it!
Gorgeous indeed - I vote for leaving the feet black.
Black - as already said your sofa is gorgeous.
BLACK is better.
kismet at work!
Have them send you the white feet and then you can use either. My vote is for WHITE.
Black! Your sofa is the object of my desire.
Black all the way!
I like the black...
...but I love the white.
I like the black actually - streamlines the look. Very beautiful sofa!

black. it is GORGEOUS.
white.
black and everyone here is right, the sofa is perfect. Either would be lovely but ease your mind, go with black and fix your pictures above the sofa. You have lovely taste!
Could you tell us who makes the sofa? Thank you, Maria
I think I'm in the minority, because I vote white. So much more dramatic. But the black looks good too, so if it'd be a hassle to have them changed, it's not going to look bad to keep the black.
black
depends on the rest of the decor. I'd almost say a red or orange would make it interesting.
The legs are great as they are. White would detract from the sofa itself which is very beautiful.
If anything, ask the company to rework the upholstery on the bottom cushion. It has a bit too much sag for a new piece and should have a better fit (the rightside of the cushion is not quite flush with the arm of the sofa and it rises in the middle).
I'm not a fan of the white. I have an idea, give me the sofa and you can start over fresh! Yes, superb!
Okay...I tried. ;)
love the 2nd pic, I was thinking bright white, but this kind of white-washed white (does that make sense?) looks FAB!
Stick with the black. It is a lovely sofa.
I do agree with Designa Gal have them send you the white just on principle.
Black though really is elegant!
black for sure. looks very yummy that way.
undoubtedly black. it'll last you longer that way as well. beautiful couch.
definately white, but not the style that you have in the mock-up. Keep the original style but change the color
the white looks like you and the sofa are trying too hard.......sort of like an older man wearing jeans that are far too tight!
I reckon black would wear better...
plus all the action is in the tfting, why distract from it. beautiful!
Stick to the dark, the Hollywood Regency is soon to be over (Thanks Kelly)
black - i would die for your sofa right now.
Ha Evan, I was kind of thinking the same thing. Like white could be great but will it look dated in a year and a half?
I VOTE for BLACK...!

black for me---send me that sofa and then get yourself one with white feet. All will be happy:-)
black!! black has a nice contrast without being too overpowering.
i think the white would be too much
When I saw the question, white immediately sprang to mind. When I saw the picture with the white, I realized, like you, I liked the black better. With the black, the sofa stands out. With the white, your eyes are drawn ot the legs. I think the white looks like you're trying just a bit too hard. I like the leg style of the black better too.
how about silver..??? and then u can deck it up with some silver accessories like a lamp next to it..
the black! (more timeless/less trendy)
black
BLACK!! And you'll never go back.
