I can understand loving this light fixture. It is unprretentious, undesigner. It is just a light fixture for a working man's home. I like it for those qualities.

I'd say that Home Depot or OSH would have something similar. No need for big bucks retro repros.

i'm with palmetto. if i remember correctly, home depot had some cute, simple mid century-ish lights like this. and cheap too!

I know of a small vacant hotel/motel in Seal Beach that is going to be torn down. I was there the other day and I am almost certain that there were a few light fixtures exactly like that. I can get them for you if you are interested. (My brother in law is actually the one who purchased the building and he said I could take anything I wanted.) It's going to be torn down in a few days.

I swear by Schoolhouseelectric.com's quality and excellent customer service. We have 8 fixtures and shades from them. They are gorgeous and are originals from original molds. They are not repos like at Home Depot. Check them out!

You could easily find fixtures like this at a salvage shop...tons of them.

Since they are going in different rooms, do they need to match exactly, or just be similar? That style seems to have very been very common for a long time; I've had lights like that in many apartments.

If they just need to be similar, take a photo, and email it around to people you know who live in older houses or apartments. They will most likely be happy to trade you their (in their opinion) outdated light fixture for a new one.

I, for example, have an almost identical fixture in my kitchen. (In mine, the stripe does not have the hex pattern, but is just a different level of opacity). I'm not much for that look, and I would happily trade if I lived near by (but shipping a fairly generic light fixture from Pittsburgh seems silly).

I used to live in Pasadena, and I remember it being slightly harder to find old stuff, but on the east coast, I see big bins of similar light fixtures at nearly every yard sale and flea market I go to. I'd try that as well, if I were you. Buying new fixtures so similar to common older ones seems wasteful to me.

I took photos of the light fixtures while I was there and I have a picture of the exact one you want...so I know that there is at least one, can't remember if there was more...I'm going again tomorrow and I'll check.

sarasomeone- I'm actually in Las Vegas, which is one of the hardest places to find used/vintage anything. I did live on the East Coast for a while, and really miss the flea markets/vintage stores/architectural salvage companies...

I wish you'd posted this a year ago - I'd have shipped you one. My old apartment had this exact same light fixture, but we replaced it with a modern one. The cover sat in our hall closet for almost a year before we dumped it.

I love these fixtures. They look best with vintage tungsten bulbs or, at the least, clear bulbs. As others have said, you can find similar fixtures at Home Depot. And Schoolhouse Electric has gorgeous vintage fixtures of the same type.

I have one of these sitting in my garage here in NS, Canada!

I just got back from the motel and to my surprise they had already started to demolish it. The entire building was a pile of rubble...but my husband didn't want to give up and he went searching thought stuff and found the light fixture under a pile of debris!! It's dirty, but in perfect condition and it is sitting here at my house...I guess it was meant to be yours...
