Dear Apartment Therapy, I generally hate bedskirts and would so much rather have a nice wood bed, but due to my desire to travel to far off places and participate in not-so-cheap activities I've realized that's not in the cards right now. I'm upholstering a headboard in this old Urban Outfitters tapestry because I love the leaf pattern, however I'm totally lost on what to use for a bed skirt fabric. I need something to cover my ugly metal bed frame. My duvet cover is a light blue with a hint of green to it. I'm moving soon and I want the new bedroom to feel like home. Any suggestions on what fabric would make a complimentary bedskirt? Thanks, Michelle
Thanks for putting the quarter in there for scale reference as to the size of this pattern, Michelle. Our first inclination is white — as close a match as you can find to the background in this existing fabric. That should have a cohesive effect on the bed as a whole by establishing a close link between upholstered headboard and "bed" (bedskirt). Anyone else?
