Do you know of any wood shop classes in the Boston area? My boyfriend is looking for a gift for his dad who already has some basic wood working skills. He was thinking a certificate for a course that would help his dad build on his skills would be a good idea. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Andrea

North Bennet Street School, considered one of the better woodworking schools in country, offers classes and workshops.
Check out the North Bennet Street School in the North End.
I got this info from a co-worker when my boyfriend was looking for a woodworking place:
http://www.eliotschool.org/ Eliot School in Jamaica Plain – project-based classes. You come to class with the plans or ideas for what you want to make.
http://www.nbss.org North Bennett Street School in the North End. Curriculum-based training. Broad in scope, good foundational skills.
mass art has some wood working classes offered through there continuing education department.

i don't know if this is what your looking for, but the furniture design and construction class looks great.
I will fourth the recommendation of the North Bennet Street School. It is excellent.
I would suggest the North Bennett Street School in the North End.
The Eliot School in Jamaica Plain has courses as well as an open studio. http://www.eliotschool.org/
North of Boston there is the Furniture iInstitute of Massachusetts in Beverly. They offer seasonal, weekly, and weekend classes. I would say it is under a ten minute walk from the Beverly T commuter rail stop
Another option is the Cambridge Center for Adult Education
Big fan of the Eliot School in JP (we live across the street). Great spot, good classes, full shop, etc.
My husband took a furniture making class at Boston Center for Adult Education and came away with a beautiful side table.
Massachusetts College of Art and Design has an amazing faculty and program through Continuing Education and you can't beat the prices. I believe they also have discounts for seniors (if that applies).
