I bought this high chair while pregnant and have yet to use it for my own baby because he hasn't started solids yet. However, I do love it. We pull it out every time our friends come over with their kids. The legs pop off easily so it is so easy to put away and pull out. I love the clean style. The down fall is that our friends kid (1 year old) pushed he feet against our table and almost tipped over! The tray is a little hard to clean underneath from grubby hands grabbing it. I haven't put it in the dishwasher, that might make it easier.

My twins used them for over 1 1/2 years- they just graduated to booster seats. I LOVED the highchairs. They are sturdy, extremely easy to clean, stackable, and hold up well. The legs are removable for easy storage. Ours still look new. My sons seemed very comfortable in them. The cushion is necessary when children start eating solid foods but need the extra support. We used the cushions until the twins were about 10 months old. The antilop highchairs were one of the best gifts we received - I highly recommend buying one!!

Have this chair and LOVE it. I think the comfort thing is overrated... your kid is sitting there for 20 minutes tops.. they'll be fine and don't need all that fancy cushioning that's going to get gross anyway. This chair is so easy to clean, so unobtrusive, you can take it on car trips, and best of all is the price... can't be beat! I seriously think it was our best "baby find."

I disagree about the comfort factor. The Ikea one really dug into our little one's legs -- she was constantly squirming around. That plus a near-fall from the tipping problem KellyMT mentioned, and we won't be using it for kid #2. (We got a Stokke Tripp Trapp which the older one is still using, but a tray is nice for beginning eaters.)

We love this highchair. My daughter didn't start solids until 8 months and we didn't buy this chair until she was 11 months, but she's very small for her age and didn't require a cushion or pad. She seems comfy in it. And I love how easy it is to clean!

I am so-so on this highchair.

Pros: Affordable, fairly easy to clean, easy to store/transport

Cons: Straps are only at the waist and loosen easily with a squirmy child. We sometimes have to re-tighten the straps mid-meal if it's a longer one.

i bought this chair for my first girl, and loved it. plan on using it with my second too, in a few months. we too waited on solid food till 8 months, but we did use it at the table before that, just so she could sit at eye level with us while we ate.

the best feature is the simple design. it's totally light and portable, which makes it easy to take over to a friends house if they don't have kids stuff around the holidays. the one piece molded seat makes it so so easy to clean the chair, many seats have cracks and several pieces, so food gets all stuck in there and gross. true, it is lighter weight, so just be careful to avoid the tipping issues. we never had any, but i can see how if you have two kids or more running around, they'd have to watch their feet and not trip on a leg, when baby is in it i could see that being something to watch out for.

at first when we used it (5-6 months) she could mostly sit up, and they didn't offer the cushions they do now since it was several years ago ( i think the price then was $15!). we just took a square throw pillow and put it behind her back, that stabilized her just fine since it made the seat area smaller and she couldn't flop around.

after our girl, it's made it through 2 friend's kids unscathed and now it's back to us again, so i can tell you it's pretty durable!

This was the BEST $20 I have spent on baby gear. My daughter is 27 months and she still uses it. It is so easy to clean and portable with the legs that come off in a cinch. It's actually quite sturdy with the wide legs so it should not tip over. I think that with any chair, if a child kicks off of a table you will have an issue. One other great thing: there are no foot rests so my daughter is not able to try to climb out of it now that she is older. That is a huge plus for wiggly kids that need 20-30 min of containment to eat a proper meal! Did I mention that the clean lines work well with the modern and mid-century aesthetic as well? Love, love, love this!

I have this chair for my baby due in January. It matches everything so well that I just had to go ahead and get it. Just remember that the tray is sold separately! I will be making another trip to IKEA to pick that up because I failed to grab it the first time. Thankfully I won't need it for quite a while!

bottom line for you janine - if you are buying it yourself, this is a great option. doesnt have lots of bells and whistles but does the job well. if someone else is going to gift you a highchair and wants to spend a little dough on you (lucky us)- get the boon flair high chair. it ROLLS. i cant tell you how convenient the rolling is. roll her to the sink to wash her up before unstrapping her, roll her around the table to whatever spot you want her. the rolling is amazing. it also adjusts heights easily and can be used with and without the tray. it cant tip over, it looks nice and she is so happy when she is in it - she likes to sit in it and watch me cook and loves to be rolled around in it. i think she wishes it was her stroller too! i am massively in love with this high chair - but its got a high price - about $225

By far, this was one of the most exciting things to find when we had our second baby. We never bought a highchair with our first (couldn't afford the ones we liked, loathed the cheaper chairs size and aesthetic) but this little chair has been a godsend. We never used a cushion and it never seemed to bother our daughter. She's almost 2 1/2 and asks to be put in the chair, just to play. I only wish it was a tiny bit shorter, so I could pull it up to the dinner table without the tray, but for the price, I am not complaining! Well worth it.

We love ours. Easy to clean, comfortable, looks great.

It is so cheap you could try it and then stash it as an extra if you hated it.

It's great, we used it for two children - not the best if you want to show off to your friends and family.

I reckon the biggest mistake most new parents make is to splash out lots of money on all sorts of high end flash kiddie and nursery gear. Do you really need that $200 high chair? And that $1000 cot? Seriously - spend the money were it counts: their college fund, improvements to the house, etc. I'm sure they will appreciate that more in 20 years time than throw away money on expensive nursery gear.

We love ours. Goes nicely with our mid century decor and is easy to clean. We started sitting our son it in it for fun around 5 months and had to use some padding at that time, but he quickly acclimated. Since the legs are detachable, we even took it camping once over the summer! Simple clean lines, inexpensive, functional. What more do you really need?

this is the best highchair ever. forget cushions youll be cleaning those things for days. my good friend loved it so much she got on herself. we even bought a second one for our lakehouse. love it!

My daughter (when she was about 12mths) was pushing the high chair around the kitchen (kind of like a walker) and it fell over and part of the tray broke. The bit that broke is one of the bits of plastic on the tray that clips in to the seat. It's still functional but is loose on that side and she can now (aged 17mths) lift the whole tray off quite easily while seated in the chair. With the closest Ikea a two hour drive away and the trays often out of stock we haven't replaced it but will try to before number 2 comes along.

We have tied knots in the belt to avoid the slipping of clips.

On the whole I am quite happy with the chair, just beware of non-intended uses!

Don't need the cushions, tray fits in the dishwasher. I love this high chair. We put our son in it when he was maybe 5 months old and he's still in it at 23 months. Can't beat the price.

I bought this and loved it. Hated some of the other designs out there - checks, frills, awful colours. You can’t beat the price and the tray pops right off which makes for easy cleaning. It looked great with our decor.

We never seemed to have a problem with the comfort issue, but I guess I never left my child in there for hours on end. I would definitely buy it again.

I am currently using this for my 6-month-old, and we love it. I wash it off in the shower. My daughter fits in it just fine, but I stick a towel behind her to keep her from bumping her head too hard on the back. The chair is easily transportable, but we usually take our Bumbo with the tray to Grandma's for meals over there. We don't live anywhere near an Ikea, so we had to have it shipped, which was more expensive than the chair itself. It was worth it, though.

Love it - don't waste your money on anything more expensive! We've used it daily for the past eight months (since our son was 6 months) and we have no complaints. We never had a cushion - didn't need it. I guess you might if your baby is unable to sit up on its own, but around here our health units highly recommend delaying solids until baby can sit up on her or his own.

Our favorite local coffee shop "Baked" has half a dozen of these for patrons. One thing to keep in mind if you have a busy eating area or a toddler running around is that the legs stick out further than most people think. On many an occasion we have had to hold onto the seat as distracted customers kick the legs as they are passing. Our 11 month old daughter is happy for up to a half hour in this. If we are going to be longer in the shop we bring her in in her Chameleon stroller and push her up to the table. At home we use a Stokke Tripp Trap as we really believe in the philosophy of a family meal. Chairs such as the Peg Perego Prima Papa really seam to isolate your child.
And to reply to mgx my daughter also sleeps in a Stokke crib and has a Britax carseat... but we also have an education fund that will pay for her education here in Canada or in England. We are also in the midst of renos on our home.
Don't go into debt for flashy gear for an infant. But if you have the means and believe that there is legitimate value in a product then you should not be judged as wasteful or shortsighted.

I love this highchair. We've been using it for a bit over a year - since my son was 10 or 11 months old. I got rid of the big cushy one because I was so tired of washing the cover. As an added bonus - when we moved across the country for awhile I popped the legs off and packed this chair in a big suit case. I love it.

Had it; used it for both kids; loved it. Would definitely buy it again. Go for it--you don't need pads.

We wanted the long-use Tripp Trapp, but with no tray, we got this one instead (based on reviews here). We're totally satisfied with it, for all the reasons the chorus has said.

Had I seen it before we bought the Antilop, we would probably have gotten the Tripp Trapp knockoff "Euro II Feeding Chair" at One Step Ahead. (Off topic, but why on earth can't Stokke add a tray?) Our strategy now we have the Antilop is to graduate our baby to the Tripp Trapp style and let the next baby use this one while they are small.

I would be happiest with a five-point harness and a foot rest, because all the books harp on their importance, but in actual practice we haven't seemed to need either yet. Ditto on the cushion.

You can't go wrong on this one, like everyone says. Thanks, maka, for the aside on the broken tray!

We love ours --- used it through 2 children, and lots of guests (still have it), so it has been a great investment! (for $24? !!)

We were given a Kinderzeat -- predecessor of the Tripp Trapp -- which our kids graduated into after they got tired of the Antilop (note -- it doesn't come with a tray because it is designed so that the child eats at the table with the rest of the family -- which is why the seat and footrest height are adjustable).

antilop=love. I'm very thankful for the couple that offered us input as we stood there staring at it, wondering if a high chair that cool looking yet that inexpensive was too good to be true. They highly recommended it, and I'm glad we listened, because we love ours. Easy to transport, easy on the eyes, doesn't take too much space, does take a lot of abuse, easy to clean. We did get the cushion but didn't really need to. We used it with our tiny guy when he went through a squirmy stage but it was hard to clean and usually not worth the bother. As for the straps, we just tied knots in the underside part to adjust the length. We did get the tray with it and that made clean-up easier than if we'd just been using the table, though we're about to discontinue use since he is finally getting the hang of using a plate . . . So, yes, I'd recommend it. It's one of my favorite baby items.

I thought I'd come back and comment again since we started using the chair last week for our son. I figured out that the high chair was tipping because our friends had it placed against the floor trim between our carpet and hardwood. Although it might still tip of a kid pushes off from the table.

My 6 month old is comfy in the seat with out the pad (I never bought it because I thought it was a waste and something extra to clean). I love that it doesn't take up a bunch of space in our tiny house.

One con is that it is hard to pull him out of the chair. Partly because he doesn't know how to help, but his legs get stuck and we have to wiggle him, while holding the chair with our legs... hopefully he'll figure it out!

I'd buy this chair again, and recommend it to friends!
