Good Questions: Singapore Semi-Flush Pendant for Less?

Good Questions: Singapore Semi-Flush Pendant for Less?

Q. Hi, I need help finding the right lamp for my new dining room. Currently, there is a large, low-hanging pendant lamp that looks like, ahem, a giant mammary gland (see after jump). I'd like to replace it with something like this Singapore Moderne Semi-Flush Mount lamp, although I don't want to pay the $2k+ price tag. I like the low profile, modern lines, and the two-tiers. Any suggestions? Thanks, Maria

A. Now that you mention it, yes, we do see the similarities between this ubiquitous pendant (left) and the female form... perhaps that's why its so popular at Home Depots the world over. We did a quick search for 2-tier style pendants and uncovered these lower priced options to get you started. They're not exactly semi-flush but hopefully it opens some avenues to expand your search:

Left to Right: CB2's Oversized Equator Pendant, $199; Hubbardton Forge's 13-9605 Adjustable Pendant, $500 (Neenas); Sonneman's Puri Pendant, $400 (Neenas).

Anyone else have suggestions that are more semi-flush mount style?
