Dear AT,
I really like the look of the CB2 Oasis Sofa, and you can't beat the price. But I'm hesitant to buy a sofa (even an inexpensive one) without seeing it or sitting in it first. I'm on the east coast, so there's no way I can make it to a CB2 showroom. There are plenty of comments on other CB2 pieces, but does anyone have any thoughts on the Oasis Sofa in particular? Is it comfortable? Well made?
Thanks,
Jenny

Jenny-
I literally work 4 blocks from the CB2 at North and Clybourn. I will go in and sit on the sofa at lunchtime and let you know if it is comfortable. How , by the way, would you define comfortable? Do you mean a sofa you can sink into? Or a sofa that provides support?
I just checked this sofa out a few days ago and in my opinion it's just decent. I currently have a sofa which is too deep and it forces you to slouch and I'm looking for one where sitting with decent posture is comfortable and this sofa fits within that realm.
The price is definately right here. However, as with most of the CB2 and Ikea sofas, you have to consider how long you plan on keeping it and how "hard" youre going to be using it. Personally, I'm going to stay away from them because they seem to start falling apart after a year for me. But then again, I'm probably harder on furniture than the average person.
I had every intent to buy this couch until I saw it in person. I don't actually recall the way it felt, but I really didn't like the fabric in person. I though it would be tweedy, but it was a little shiny like chenille. Still a great shape and price though, just not what I expected.
I tried this one out recently and found it to be only okay comfort-wise. It was a little firm for my personal comfort. I also tried the CB2 Loft Sofa, though, and I found it to be much more comfortable. It has a similar design and price point -- it's shorter than this one though.
Don't buy a sofa you have never seen nor sat upon. It isn't a good idea. CB2 is really a dissapointment and I cannot understand why people like it. It's overpriced and that sofa is too. My too scents.
thanks so much for the comments. i like sofas on the softer-end, although I hate the look of pillow-top sofas. it sounds like this one might be too firm for my taste.
Jenny, dear, tell me you are not going to buy a sofa you have not seen in person let alone sat on. GIRLFRIEND , the line of this sofa is great but, frankly, you can do better. Buy locally and remember always get the best you can afford !
I bought this very sofa in October of '06 and have been nothing but happy with it. Sure, it's not the softest sofa, but there's a reason you're not shopping at Ethan Allen. For a modern sofa at this price, you can't beat it. Oh, and it's incredibly easy to take care of. Great choice!
Hi,
I don't know if you are still thinking about the oasis sofa but I just bought mine a month ago and I love it. The lines are great and I find it to be extremely comfortable and have slept in in many times. I have it in choclate brown and the material is nice and soft. I was afraid it would look like faux suede or somethign and it doesn't. It's really pretty and I get many compliments. The only issue i have with the sofa is that it attracts soooooo much lint and debris. It's like a magnet. Don't buy it i you have pets! If anyone has any suggestions on how to keep a sofa lint fre (other than maniacally using a lint roller-- which I do twice a day)-- let me know. Maybe there is a spray?
