Q: I have been looking at pictures as part of a face lift for my entryway — and have been struck by the idea of a table that can shelter 2 stools as an option for kiddums coming in and needing to take off boots, etc. I attached some pics that I found inspiring.I'm looking for ideas on tables and stools that would work like this. Stools have to be light so a preschooler can pull it out when needed. The walls are Manchester Tan and nearby areas are Sweet Daphne green, and a light blue/gray. Any wood tones would work, and a little color in the stools would be welcome, too!

Editor: IKEA and CB2 would be a great place to look for this kind of combination. The table with the green background is IKEA's Stockholm Sofa Table in black (a steal for $199) and the 4th image is from CB2. I've seen their Fresca Console ($249) combined with the Fresca Coffee Table/Bench ($249) for an equally attractive pairing — perfect for an entryway, and little ones can use the low bench to take off boots and shoes.
Does anyone else have suggestions for AJ?

If you're contemplating the CB2 Fresca Coffee Table/Bench, I'd recommend checking out the Malm Occasional Table at Ikea ($80). Alternately, the Malm Dressing Table ($179) comes with a thin drawer and is a little longer. Good luck!
I'd think a vintage bench would be great- although totally depends on what's available where you live. I was looking for a bench at one time and there were plenty at reasonable prices in Pittsburgh (craigslist).
As per stools- I'd say the Ikea Frosta would be a good pick regardless of bench- super cheap and light. Best thing- you can customize it yourself with some paint or make it more frufru by taking away a leg and repositioning the remaining 3.
It'd be darling to have your preschooler help paint it or even do it themselves (assuming it works for the space of course)! I'd imaging you could even collage pictures or something into the top...
i just bought the fresca console table a few days ago and i couldn't be happier with it. in regards to the comment above mine, just keep in mind that the fresca table is 15 inches longer than the malm.
I like CozyLittleCave's idea of the painted stools.
I would be sure to keep them low and kids sized, especially for removing shoes. I like the idea of the Leksvik children's stool from Ikea.
For something still low, but more grown up looking, I like the idea of a couple of leather storage cubes. They would look great under the table, be low enough for the pre-schooler, as well as providing storage and additional seating if needed.
I'm a big fan of the West Elm Parson's Console (in white). It has two drawers even.

For stools I would hit up some antique stores or flea markets, find some cheap mismatched stools and paint them bright colors. Preschooler could help with this project.

Could I get away with one small stool and one of the rectangular taller ones (for bigger kids?) Or would that be chaotic? Black table and black stools? The smaller stools at this site have turned legs, anyone seen any without that detail?(Without would seemingly be a better fit with the Stockholm leg style.)
