Hey, love the site!
I live in a typical tiny NYC apartment and found the perfect sofa for my place (as large as will fit). Here's the problem: it won't fit through my hallway/stairwell. There's some guy at ABC Home that can cut it in half and then reconnect and reupholster after it's in my apartment. Is this a good idea, or should I abandon the sofa?
Thanks for the advice, Elyzabeth,
Elyzabeth, this one's for the crowd, but we have heard good things about services like these and have blogged them here.

Recently I had a sofa delivered to my home from Montauk Sofa. The sofa did not fit in my home. I called DR. SOFA "The Furniture Surgeon". I received wonderful customer service, prompt disassembly and a wonderful end result. My sofa looks great, you'd never know it was taken apart and put back together. If you find yourself in this situation I suggest you cal DR. SOFA @ (718) 292-6300 x208.

Hi I bookmarked this guestbook. Thank you for good job!
l heard first time about Dr.sofa when i saw this forum,Just wanted to thank you again for all your help last week and let you know that I could not be more pleased and impressed with the services of Dr.Sofa. I plan on sharing your name and my experience with everyone I know, and as I already mentioned, I told Jonathan Adler that they should send all their customers to you guys. The guys who worked on my sofa and reassembled it were very nice, extremely professional and watching their work was equal parts artistry and magic. I love my new sofas and can't thank you and your team enough.
Regards,
Jen
Use Dr. Sofa not Sal from nycouchDr.com here is why:
I found sals phone number online @www.nycouchdr.com. I called him he sounded very nice he told us it was going to cost between $200 and $450. he said it could be done 100%. i told him that we could not return the couch after this and he saw the picture of it online. when he got to my apartment he totally changed his mind about the whole thing he said he didn't want to do it. He'll only do it for $800. he was very nasty he gave me your phone number and he walked out. i called you guys and i spoke to kathy she was very nice. she said you can do it and it was only going to cost $300 and that someone was going to come that day. Ttwo men came a few hours later they got my couch into my apartment and I was very happy with the way it came out...
thank you so much!!!
sorry i took me so long to write it. please dont use my name on anything. sal told my husband not to try to do anything because he knows where we live.
thanks again!!!
I was in the same situation a while ago I bought a beautiful sofa from Crate and Barrel but when they delivered it, turned out to be too big for my doorway. I called Dr. Sofa and they did an awesome job and very quick too. The sofa looks exactly the same, you would never know it was taken apart. These guys were extremely nice and they are truly artists. You sure will be impress with the quality of their work. Give them a call, you won't regret it.
