Hello AT,
My new neighbor is a self-proclaimed insomniac who keeps her TV on ALL NIGHT LONG! It's driving me insane. Yes, I've tried talking to her about it, I've suggested headphones, closed captions and Ambien to no avail. Even more annoying is that she seems to think it's my problem not hers.
I did a Google search and found something called Hy-Tech Sound Insulation Paint. Has anyone out there tried this or something similar? Did it help?
Thanks, Kathryn

Dear Kathryn, At $31 a gallon, it can't hurt to try it, but we have not heard of this or do we have any experience with paints like this.
Blocking sound does require the capturing of air between surfaces - insulation - and while this paint says it does just that, it can't be thick enough to solve all your problems.
But it may cut them down a bit. Anyone used this???

I have a terrible noise problem as well. My recent neighbors just moved out, they were very hard to deal with. They have moved out, I know have two new neighbors who make the last sound like field mice. Their music shakes my fixtures, and I have asked them to please keep it down.... they turn it down slightly, but its still really invasive. I am looking at Green Glue, with a second set of drywalling over the existing. Anyone else use green glue?
Thanks
Hate to revive old posts, but there are a ton of creative ways to soundproof over existing walls. For example, the following link has a variety of products that are typically found in commerical applications (accoustical baffles, dBA panels, decorative wall panels, etc.) Although somewhat expensive, they can be implemented without too much work on your part.
