Good Questions: Bamboo Floors?

AT,

I'm thinking about installing bamboo floors in my tiny house, but would love to hear people's feedback. If you've installed them, have you been happy with them? Has anyone tried those from Home Depot?

And, by the way, any recommendations for contractors/installers in the Bay Area?

Very easy to install (I just used glue). THe hardness/scratchability depends on the brand. I used Ming Dynastry from ifloor.com and they are fine. THey are as hard as oak flooring for sure.

Don't really know much about the company, but a friend of a friend owns a bamboo flooring company...

I installed them myself in an upstairs addition that does not get a lot of traffic. It was an easy installation, but I work in construction and have above basic knowledge and skills. They are not as tough as we hoped; they dent when something heavy falls on them, but otherwise we like the look and the upkeep.

We installed them ourselves - bought them from a guy who imports the planks himself from Shanghai and sells them out of his garage. Very easy as a DYI project and total beginners. We rented a floor nailer. The most annoying thing was peeling the old linoleum tiles off to put the wood down. I highly recommend them. They do scratch, but all wood floors do.

I play capoeira at a studio that put in bamboo floors and I think it was a mistake. Even though everyone is barefoot in the room all the time, the floors are really starting to break down.They are heavily dinged and starting to split.
