This sink would be great for tiny apartments. I was at Bar East in the LES (NYC) last night and noticed their sinks are mounted in the wall. The tap comes out at an angle and underneath the soap dish there is a toilet paper dispenser. I'd say it only comes out 6 inches from the wall. Someone must know the answer! –Greg

you mean urinal?
i always loved that sink. i searched high and low for it after seeing it in uk living magazine. the one that i saw was a little more graceful looking.
ask the manager to find out where they bought it.
glad to see that I'm not the only one who takes photos in public bathrooms.
you could find something similar at Duravit or Lacava.
Yeah, that looks like a urinal... I'd feel a little weird washing my hands in it!
I'm sorry but that is truly ugy. I agree with the others who said "looks like a urinal."
Sorry, but having stood in front of many urinals, that does not look like a urinal.
I have seen one in stainless steel and you're right, it is great in a tiny bathroom. We have friend who redid a 1900's rowhouse in Church Hill (Richmond, va) and it looks great in their tiny bathroom (3x4) under their stairs.
Eeeeek! Washing hands in a urinal? I think not!
yeah, see, one *pees* in a urinal, and since this is a *sink* and people wouldn't be peeing in it, one would not be washing one's hands in a urinal. geez, you go for a walk in the woods, you're pretty much walking in a big toilet; you think the animals have urinals? lol
this sink might be just what i need in my bathroom! i hope someone finds a source for it.
I'm with the urinal people, adversely, just pee in your sink, poop in your garden.
Hot and cold running water in a urinal with an embedded soapdish?
Don't think so...
bepsf, We all know it's a sink, we're just saying it looks like a urinal. Should that be an urinal? a urinal sounds correcter.
it doesn't look like a urinal for me at all. and in my last (tiny) bathroom i would have been very glad for it, too.
I think by suggesting that the sink looks like a urinal, people are pointing out that this has a public restroom feel and might feel out of place in a home bathroom. It is awfully shallow, but I guess it might be useful if you have an extra-tiny bathroom and are only planning on washing your hands in it.
funstraw,
It is 'a' urinal, not 'an' urinal, because the 'u' in 'urinal' makes a consanant 'y' sounds. (My nerd-worthiness is courtesy of an English and Linguistics degree.)
And on topic, I really want to know where that sink is from! I have a closet that is dying to be a bathroom, but it is a tad narrow.
I'd be worried some guys would pee in it...
I second the suggestion to look at Duravit. Their Vero Handrinse basin is a much nicer version of this concept - and comes out only 8' from the wall.
sorry, what's the question?
My parents have this sink in their house (Melb. Australia). Different taps though. They bought it over 25 years ago!
Hmm, I can only find ugly stainless steel ones made for police stations, but how about a sink in a drawer!?

I love, love, love this sink! So far it's the best thing I've seen that would work in my impossibly tiny sink-less bathroom. Definitely need the source.
Funstraw, don't you mean that 'a' would be 'more correct' or simply 'correct', rather than 'correcter'.... :)
yeah, speaking as a woman, I have to say that I think I might have more difficulty peeing into that sink, as opposed to a more traditional one..... not that I'm the voice of experience or anything but in the absence of a loo and the presence of that sink, I'd head for the wet room instead.....
Marcel Duchamp would've hung it on a wall....
I think this sink was originally designed for the Barbican (post war housing estate in London)
Manufactured by Twfords the original design is still in production:

Easy, it's the Twyford Barbican Handrinse. I just bought one to fit in my apartment in Paris which has quite a small main toilet. A classic design originally made for the Barbican housing development in London, I believe. You can buy it quite easily in the UK.
