Hi Apartment Therapy, We're getting ready to build a horizontal fence like this one you featured awhile back. The problem is, I've searched high and low and can't seem to find any stainless steel, modern gate hardware. We're looking specifically for hinges, but more importantly for a latch. Does anyone know of anything out there?

We'd recommend searching Rejuvenation Lighting & Hardware — but we don't see any specific hardware for fences. Anyone have ideas?

you might have luck at liz's antique hardware in los angeles. web address: lahardware.com.
good luck!
Have you thought of just designing it yourself and going to a local welder to create it for you?

Liz's Antiques is a great resource. Rock Mountain Harware makes beautiful hardware and will do custom.

My husband and I are wondering the same thing! We just got through building two horizontal cedar fences and so far haven't found anything beyond a few basic options for hinges and latch. Where is the cool hardware for our fences??
Hi there! My husband and I run a small architectural hardware store (online) and we've just added a new line of contemporary and modern gate hardware. Here's a link to the newest, the Moda Latch, which is brushed stainless and has a sustainably forested tigerwood handle:

There's not a ton out there on the market, but we're rapidly developing more and will add them to the store as quickly as possible! Good luck!
I just wanted to add on to my previous post that we're now producing more than a dozen contemporary/modern gate latches. Finally there's something out there!

We built a horizontal fence and we're on a budget and like many couldn't find anything that was modern and unique. I walked every isle of our home improvement store looking for something that we could use as a handle and low and behold found it in the bathroom section. We used a handicap bathroom rail (or is often used as a railing in a shower entry) and it cost $20! We purchased 2 large stainless steel hinges for $36 each and had really cool gate hardware for under $100. Results here: http://nicnormanstudio.com/images/gate.jpg
