I love the Smeg line of kitchen appliances, but they are massively expensive + appear to only be available overseas. Have you found a similar line here in the U.S.?
Thank, Elaine

Dear Elaine,
Smeg ("for those in the know") is great for colorful retro fridges and other appliances, and yes, they are molto expensivo.
A US-based alternative (Boulder, Colorado, to be exact) is Big Chill, which makes retro stoves and fridges. The fridges run about $2,700 a pop.
There's also Canada's NorthStar Refrigerators, where the pastel 50's fridges go for about $3,313.
Any other ideas or sources out there?

Shaw's Original Fir...
I just wrote about a company that makes similar fridges called Big Chill, which are available in the States. (They're not quite as cute as the Smeg, but are pretty darn close looks-wise.) Here's the link to the post:

I've seen Smeg refrigerators at Krup's Kitchen and Bath, 11 W. 18th Street, 212.243.5787. I know that's in Manhattan and probably no help to you, but they sure are purdy. And HUGE. Oh, and also pretty pricey.
paint a regular fridge.
