Coordinating Furniture in a Miami Living Room?

Q: We just purchased this 1934 Mediterranean Revival House in Miami. We have decided to furnish the living room with the 101" Wells Sofa from Room and Board along the East wall, across from the fireplace. However, we are having trouble deciding on an area rug and also a coffee table that will compliment the sofa without detracting from the very colorful hand-painted Cuban tiles. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Editor: What a great house! The cold-snap this week has us dreaming of your Spanish Colonial in warm Miami! I would look for a rustic wood coffee table to coordinate with the sofa — but offset both pieces with a colorful rug that contrasts with all orange/brown/tan/wood colors — maybe a bright blue hombre like this closeout deal from Macys: Calvin Klein rug?
