Q: We have a nice, colorful and sun-filled family room with an open-kitchen, and we're trying to turn this wall into a more attractive and functional TV/display/storage space. We liked the MShelving solution by Loadbearing, but their stuff seems a little pricey for what you get. Is there anything out there that is relatively modern, affordable, and cool for us to display our television, tchotchkes, and store our books (and the many DVD/CDs still waiting in boxes)? We'd like to utilize this whole space, height-wise, width-wise, or both. Thanks!

Editor: For the modern and cool style of Loadbearing, I would recommend checking out CB2 and BluDot — but you might find the prices not so far off from Loadbearing:
• BluDot's D2 modular shelving could transform the entire wall and also features some choices in colored accents.
• CB2's Basis Credenza is easily adaptable to function as a media cabinet and offers lots of closed storage.
To fully take advantage of the entire space, consider a flexible modular system. BESTA from IKEA is probably the least expensive option worth considering.
Who else has advice for Nathaniel?
