Sami has a good question for the crowd: I have been looking for a placemat to save our wood dining table from dents and scratches that come with a cup- and spoon-wielding toddler. There just does not seem to be anything out there that is not (a) easy for a child to pull off the table, (b) ugly, and/or (c) expensive....

Examples include the TinyDiner Portable Placemat (ugly, small), and Stokke model (expensive, easy to pull off table).

Do you have any suggestions for alternatives that can be used on a daily basis, including any DIY solutions?

Please share your tabletop-protecting ideas with Sami below...
