I have been searching online for a brown coverlet in a California King for a reasonable price and have been unable to find one. ...it is called Retrospect, and it sells for $179.99.
But it's not that simple, as you have discovered, since the same size Retrospect coverlet is also sold as the regular King size.
The difference between a King and California King mattress is really just he configuration of length and width. Here is the scoop:
King is 76 inches wide x 80 inches long, where a Cal King is 72 inches wide x 84 inches long. So, by choosing a Cal King you are gaining in length but it is narrower in width.
Therefore, in most cases, there is no distinction made between King and Cal King comforters and coverlets when it comes to sizing. In researching this, we've found a range goes anywhere from 90x108 to 90x110 to 94x106 to 95x111 to 104x112, depending on the manufacturer, whether described as King or Cal King...so there is not a definitive answer to sizing here, other than your preference.

Hi Signe, Janel is right, you will usually find that the King size is "universal" with Cal. King - so you need to pay attention to the measurements. I suggest measuring the mattress top and then add in the extra length you would like on each side, then do the same for the length and then go searching. The only item that really needs to be specific for Cal. King is a fitted sheet. My company makes modern bed linens and our King/Cal. King duvet is 106"W x 92" L. Hope this helps with your search!
