Dear AT,
Can you recommend an interior designer, because I need help to make my 700 sq ft one bedroom condo function. The space is three years old, with a wall of windows facing the El and the other walls at angles. Furniture placement is difficult...Need help with paint colors, lighting and storage...Plus I need office space.
Thanks,
JC

Post your floor plan here, too! We'd love to help virtually if we can - at least maybe some ideas to get you started!
Depending on what your budget is (designer cost) Current or Recently graduated design students are known to be eager and less expensive. **HINT HINT NUDGE NUDGE**
Well E.M.H., how would one get in contact with some recent design grad? I am in the same boat as the original poster and can't afford $200/hour.
Speaking of design students...I am a fellow winker and nudger, and can be reached at gretchenm47 at gmail dot com. In my last year or interior design school, and work [wicked] cheap.
This is great. A mini-marketplace for design grad students! Maybe we can set up a reverse auction system for interior design services from them.
How much would it cost to assist/review paint selection?

I would say $25-50, depending on how many rooms, size, etc. It would also be useful to see the actual space, to understand the lighting and furniture in use better, as that can drastically affect it, as I'm sure you know.
I don't think I'd have time to spend with the furniture and paint but I'd be happy to help you out with a space plan.

I graduated with a degree in Architecture two years ago and currently work for an architecture firm in Chicago. I have experience with space planning and love interiors. You can view my apartment on my flickr page http://flickr.com/photos/89423871@N00/sets/72157594496738668/
I would offer a free hour long consultation in your space and would offer a reasonable hourly rate if you agree to use my services. Email me at mls7744@ksu.edu if interested
mviamontes, your cat is a rock star! Really nice place. I like the idea of a colored panel behind the open bookcase. Your cat definitely seems to be comfortable there. :-)
JC, I'd love to help as well (sorry for my long absence since you first posted the question!)
Please feel free to email me, helloat at gmail dot com - I'd love to provide some ideas!
And best of luck with your space.
