Darley is looking for a dresser: I have a very similar dilemma to Studio Stumped Sara, except I _know_ I don't want to go the matching route.
We have a Malm bed and nightstands but still need a dresser. The color is black/brown. The idea of a fully Malmed room makes me want to weep.
Any dresser ideas sub 700 would be greatly appreciated (I wish we could afford the one from Room & Board!).
The Malm is a great choice for an eclectic room because it is such a simple basic good design. You can go in many different design directions with the accompanying pieces.
Our suggestion to make your dollars go farthest is to look for a vintage second hand dresser. You could then do a paint finish to work with the Malm's black brown color.
The materials and construction on older pieces is generally higher quality for the money than a lower priced new piece. Plus you'll have control over the exact color (either a match or a fun accent) paint finish.
Take a look at The White Attic (photo shown) in Andersonville for inspiration...they do a great job of re-inventing vintage pieces.
Thats just one idea - we're looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with...please add your suggestions for Darley below.

You might want to expand your search for solutions outside of the traditional dresser. Cabinets, armoires, and sideboards can also serve as a dresser and often make for more flexible storage space than traditional drawered storage.
Are you at all handy? Or know someone who is?
On the cover of dominomag.com is a fab red cabinet. The cabinet is being used in a dining room but, I don't see why it couldn't be used as chest.
Or, maybe, you could get the Malm paint it and some how attach them to the wall like the domino mag pic. LOL Easier said than done....I'm sure.
Have you looked at CB2? If you want a similar color to your Malm products, they have the Bisect> in brown-black. Or if you want to do something a bit different, you could go for the True dresser in white.
Oops messed up formatting those links...
I also have the Malm bed, in medium brown, and I'm currently trying to figure out a nightstand solution. I don't want to go with the matching ones, but I'm at a loss as to what kinds of inexpensive furniture would look decent.
It needs to be low, like 16", since I have a sunrise clock that needs to be right in my face, and the other furniture in the room are a ridiculously comfortable papasan chair, a danish modern dresser, and cotton roman blinds.
Any thoughts for the design-challenged?
