Good Questions: How to Finish This Room?

I need your help! I am having a really difficult time visualizing this room finished. I recently moved and am trying to sell much of what I own to replace it with items that fit the new space better...

Here is an image of the living room. It's quite small, and has many doors and windows. The only items I really want to keep are the orange sofa and 2 white lamps. Any suggestions on what I could put into the space to make it home would really help. You've already had very good suggestions with paint colors so I trust your input will help save my living room.

My only idea so far is to get this pattern for a flor rug...

I have a similar challenge and I am looking at smaller sectional pieces.

I might take the long couch and place it with its left arm on the window on the left side of the floorplan, and maybe put a narrow table behind it, creating kind of a front hallway. Then you have access to your closet and there is room for a sleeker mini-sectional piece and some lighting in the corner where the big couch is now.

Also, in such a fluid space I'd probably eschew coffee tables in favor of multiple small ottomans that can be scooted around and used for extra seating.

What is that floorplan developed in? Or did you draw it? It's purty.

First of all, the cat on the sofa in your drawing cracks me up.

On to layout, in a room with so many doors my usual advice is to find a new center. So you can keep the orange sofa (which I flove, btw) where it is and then add two chairs about 3 feet from the front door and closet wall. Center the seating area with those Flor tiles, and go for chairs with "air" so they don't take up too much visual space, like a Danish modern design or a bamboo Chppendale.

Good ideas, but where to the lamps fit it? I love to read and always want good light where I sit. One does fit next to the window nicely. Guess the other one would work on the other side of the room.

Is there an overhead light? Could you change out and add a fun fixture?

Both couch placements are great! Love the re-centering of the furniture. The area rug would work well there.
